BensProposalDraft

The topic I would like to discuss on my final project is music. Specifically I would like to talk about how music is an important part of a child’s learning and that people should be introduced to music at a young age. I propose that schools should improve their musical programs. By this I do not mean that each school should have an excellent sounding band, but rather I want a music program that is all encompassing. I would like to discuss the benefits of having children play a musical instrument and getting involved in a music program, whether it is chorus, band or orchestra. I would propose that schools should have children join some sort of music program at a young age and play an instrument, and also that children should be in music classes and learn music history.

Being part of an orchestra/band/chorus helps children develop many skills and helps to improve learning. Children learn group skills and learn how to work as a team and sound like one. By being in a musical group, children also learn self-discipline, and studies have shown that playing an instrument or being introduced to music at a young age helps kids to do better in school. Lastly, being in a music group helps children to have a sense of confidence in themselves because they are able to learn to play something, or sing something. I would have schools develop music classes to show children different types of music and the history and culture behind it. This creates a better rounded person and a more knowledgeable one. This proposal has a large audience being that every child goes to school but I will focus the proposal to the schools administrations and also to lawmakers.

Hey its GiovanGrazi and I think this is a great idea. I also think that music is very important for both acedemic and social purposes. I think it would be important to include many reasons about how this subject can help student and in what ways specifically. You might want to go to this page. It is VH1's website for Save The Music foundation. I includes success stories that you may want to incorporate into your final project, they will help reinforce your issue. One problem that might come up is sports. Many people believe that sports teams also help socially by building a group of friends and also helps with someones confidence. Another problem, that happened in my community, was that our band, chorus, and musicals were excellent. But in the middle school the band director retired and they are replacing him with a special education teacher. They are using the money that they are saving on the new turf football field. This just emphasizes my point of how music is underplayed and the government itself does not step in enough. You might want to research this

Ben, it's Mike ZuccsBlog, I like your idea and I think your exactly right. The music program in my schools were not weak but they were not up to par with the standards I think they should be. I saw on the news that people who can play a musical instrument have a higher level of intelligence than a person without the musical skills.
