I was driveing my bus last friday afterneoon and the kids on the back(two older guys) started standing up and pinching each others nipples. Now i remember in middle school i did the same thing as a matter of fact i have a picture of myself at scout camp with bruses all over my chest so i am no stranger to it but, when i asked them to sit down and stop messing around they yelled back at me and the one exclaimed his nipples were being harrased by the other kid. First of all i didnt want to hear that and second who tells the bus driver that. I dont know if its just cause i am a younger guy or what but for some reason he thinks its cool to yell about his personal problem all over the bus. At that point im not sure what exactly i am supposed to do i figured i would embarris him by yelling on the intercom leave your boy friends nipples alon. I was wrong the kid is unphased. When i put my reds on at his stop i yelled back sorry i have to seperate you to lovers he dosnt care. instead he starts talking in a gay voice to all the other boys on the bus saying im going to miss you hun and all that sort of stuff. And when he gets about half way hes sayys your still my number one matt. As he reaches me he pulls his shirt down and is like look at my nipples. There was a car faceing me with a very confused old women so i looked away and told him i would get fired if i did. That not being good enough for him he adjusts the bus watch camera and puts it right on his nipple. I was laughing it was probably the funniest thing i have seen in a while but i dont think i should ahve been. I dont want to write the kid up because i didnt really tell him he was doing something wrong but i need to tlak to the whole bus now and state the roles again or i risk one of the kids not being comfortable and telling his parents and then im in deep crap.

I was looking through my folder today. i was looking for my final exam dates and found that at some point i lost the date of my math exanm and have no idea were it is. You would think that this wouldnt be a problem you would probably call a friend in the class or maybe go online get the professors email address and find out when it is no problem right. wrong. I dont have any friends in the class partly cause i am just that much of a loser and partly cause my only friend droped it last month. So asking a friend is out of it so i get online to find the teachers address and its not on file as far as the penn state math department is concerned this women does not exist now i have no idea what to do and i just figured since i was already on a computer i would write a little.

George bush in a desperate effort to save face from his 32% aproveal rateing has proposed the oil coompanys not be allowed to make excesive profit on gasoline. As much as i hate paying three dollars a gallon for gas, part of being a capitalist economy is that those people should be free to charge whatever we want. George bush is republican Why then is he acting like a communist. The government controlling prices is good to a point teddy roosevelt showed us that but telling people how much they can charge is stepping over the line in my oppinion and it should not be allowed.

I was listening to the news last night and heard a man talking about health care. He was saying that his mother could not get it in her home satte and had to drive accros the border to buy meddicine. The anouncer on the radio show started talking about how its all the conservative republican fault. He said and i quote. "Thats what the republicans want if you are rich you get health care if you are poor you die." are you freekin serious what was this guy thinking. It brought me to the conclusion that somewhere along the line we lost the fact that we are all americans. We are all citizens of he same country. There is nothing wron with being crittical of the way things are being run if you dont like it, thats what make thid country such a great democracy. The proble occurs when we are to buissy fighting each other to fix problems. The democrats blame the republicans for the riseing oil prises and the republicans blame the democrats. Any ideot can see that it is the countrys that sell us oil that are the problem. When america was founded its people were joiners. American sauilors in the time after the revolutionary war would sail away from port when a storm was comeing and tough it out together. We used to all be happy with what we had. Because opf the constant fighting and bikering between our nations leaders it has lead some people to loose faith in our government. When that happens instead of complain and write letters like they should they just assume that all government is corrupt and stop voteing. That dose not make sence the reason this country works is because when you have a problem you vote on it. If we dont vote we turn into a dictatorship.

Yesterdays Blog reminded me of something that happened to me in middle school. I went to park forest the other middle school in state college and i remember on time when i had just been on a bopy scout trip and still had my nife in my poket. It was just an honest mistake were i left it in my poket and forgot it was sixth grade wich i guess was like 1998 or something close to that. At that moment i hadnt thought much about what would happen to me i just knew knives were not allowed in school so i went to the princible and gave it to her and told her how it had happened. At the end of the day i went back and got it and went home no problem. I know that what happened in columbine may have an effect on the policys but this was after it and it still was ok. When i made it to high school i made it my buisness to ask the home room teacher about it. "If i accidently bring a knife to school can i turn it in and be ok?" All she said to me "ont do it." What the hell is that supposed to mean. If its an accident i had no choice weather or not it happened. So in tenth grade when it happened to me for the second time i just kept it in my poket and hid it from every one. So now i have a knife sure i dont intend to use it on someone but its there and if something were to happen i may act rashly and use it. No tolerance in this case has cause a serious problem. If i had been alowed to take it to the office and not get in trouble i would have but instead i was carrying a knife all day that noone knew about except me. That seems kinda flawed if you ask me.

The young man who sat behind me on the middle school run started talking about how his friends were in rehab because they got in fights while they were drunk, and how he got kicked out of his last sschool just for talking about guns. All i could think of at the time is what the heck is happening to our world. Kids in middle school are doing drugs and takeing weapons to school. All our state can do about it is create a no tolerance policy that is just as rediculous. You are not even aloud to talk about guns at school. I dont know what to say to that but i dont want my kids growing up in that sort of enviroment. constant fear of screwing up and getting thrown out fo school would run there life.

For many years now over population, starvation, and poverty have been very serious problems in the world for many years now. Since the world governments allied themselves in the fight against it nothing they have done seems to be able to stop it. The problem is only getting worse countries throughout the third world are starving for support from us and all we can do is sit and watch or so it seems. Many of the more conventional methods to solving poverty problems have only led to failure and lost time. Our society has a discourse a way of discussing poverty witch limits our minds and narrows our views on helping it. I have spent many years watching violent movies and playing horribly graphic video games and it has led me to believe that a simple solution to our poverty problems isn’t as horrible as we all think. Bring back the coliseum. Let that sink in run it through your head for a while and you will probably think it is the worst idea you have ever heard, but wait that’s just society telling you that it is. Step outside the box and look at it with me. The coliseum in ancient Rome used slaves and animals since animals are all endangered now and slavery isn’t very nice why not pay there gladiators. For example let’s say I was from Brazil and wanted to help poverty in my country I would sign up to fight in the coliseum in America. The coliseum directors would pay for my trip supply me with appropriate weapons for the event feed me up to it then if I won 5% of the money made would go to my home country, directly to the people who need it. At that point I could go hoe but if I chose to I could stay and fight another battle upon victory in that battle the needing people would get 10% of the profit earned. The rate would stay at 10% till the directors thought that I was worth more. Some times the coliseum would host massive battles between 50 or more gladiators on each side. To help with the pay for this each surviving gladiator would receive a percentage of 20& of the earnings. Now you are probably wondering what 20% is going to be out of. Lets look at beaver stadium for an example it holds 110,000 people the coliseum would have to be at least a third lager than that maybe even a half larger lets say 170,000 people. Watching people die safely will have to be expensive but not so expensive that only the rich can watch for most times the ticket price will be $100 a person big or small. For special event nights the price will be slightly higher $150 a ticket. With that rate on an average night the coliseum could make 17 million dollars, for a first time fighter that won his fight that’s 850,000 dollars for his country. For each non special event night there will be a 70% value of fights and for special nights there will be an 80% value. For example on an average night there could be 14 new comer fights or seven veteran fights or any mix of the two. While this will keep profits to a minimum that’s not what the coliseum is about it is about a world with no poor people, as long as the coliseum can fund itself and stay afloat there is no reason to make extra money. Even on special even nights the coliseum would bring in 3,400,000 dollars witch should be more than enough to pay the staff and maintain the building. About the building it will be hard to fid a location to build such a massive structure but like any great structure I believe it belongs in the great capital of the United States Washington D.C. We all know that for years New York has been way over rated and its time to bring the capital back to life with the ultimate of all commercial enterprises.

For my final paper I plan to write a proposal that will give a solution to the world’s problems with hunger medical supplies and population control. I will propose that the coliseum be brought back and built in the United States. The coliseum will be slightly different then in its first appearance because we have no slaves. But the way I see it is why not let people from third world country come here and fight for their countries. It is planed to be a satire of other unaffected ways of dealing with population and poverty and is also made to criticize governments that let there people starve, die, and kill each other over cultural disputes. I intend to spend time talking about the problems the ways we try to solve them and then to propose this solution as a joke. It will be mostly to say why not we kill each other anyway why not gain from it. I think I may have trouble making it 8 pages but with it I will make brochures or maybe programs for an event that will have the information.

In Darfur there has been killing and suspected genecide. Many refugis have left there homes and crowded around the main citys in sudan. Unfortunatly for the refugis there is not nearly enough food, water, and medicine to support them. the government is belived to be responsible for some of the killing and though it is denied many people blame them for what is happening. it seems that the sudan goverment is not trying as hard as they could be to resolve this conflict. I think that a good solution to this problem is a quick one and if the goverment and other partys involved need to stop mopeing around and get to work.

It seems to me that a lot of the blame for this issue can be placed on the colonists. Many Afrcan countrys suffer greatly due to the aftermath of imperialism. It was also the fault of the group that shot down the presidents airplane no matter who it was. Indirectly I still feel it is the fault of the colonists for creating the tension between ethnic groups.

I suppose you'll want to investigate why affirmative action came about in the first place. Also, I'm not sure that affirmative action is a one-dimensional concept. That is, it's a general term but there are so many ways of implementing its goals. Finally, is it really true that white males are suffering so much from this initiative? If so, which ones? All of them or just the blue collar ones? So, you'll have to get clear on the criteria, both accordig to why it's unfair, but also the criteria according to which proponents would find affirmative action to be successful. TheKemBlog

When I was riding the bus to English on Friday I was thinking abut what I could write my paper on. A girl in the back seat was talking way too loudly and the entire bus could hear. I was first distracted because I hate it more then anything when people are loud and extraverted in a public place. With ADD it is impossible to not listen to these people and I had no choice but to follow her conversation. As I was listening I noticed that she was using the word slut an awful lot, and in many different ways. "Jenny called me a slut", "her moms a slut.", "she is a slut." All I could think was "that’s a lot of sluts". It was obvious to me that she was over using the word and that jenny and her mom had not gained the title of slut in the same way she had. I was wondering who's opinion it was that thy were sluts, and why that person was aloud to make such an important decision about what the word meant. At fist I didn’t consider what I had thought about more than just a 15 minute waist of time. The more I thought about it though I realized that there was so many different ways a girl could gain the title of slut, and why only a girl. When I didn’t like a guy cause of his sexual choices I didn’t call him a slut. After that I decided I wanted to work to come up with an exact definition of the word slut. To do this I will need to find the word used in many different places and try and find out what the experts think about this word. I know that this word may not be important to the rest of the world but what that girl on the bus did was tell me that most of the people in our country are ignorant to the real meaning of the word. I have made it my first priority to educate our country and take the time to really look at the word and its meaning.

My Name is Matthew Rider. I grew up in State College And have lived here all my life. I have verey serious spelling and Grammar problems, as a result i carry a bad spellers dictionary with me at all times. I know that some of you are going to have a really good time ripping what I type apart and editing it, I am loking forward to it so dont feel bad. In my free time i work at my church Grace Lutheran as a middle school youth group advisor. Other things i do in my free time include playing Risk the board game and sleeping. I am not a fan of writeing and m almost certain i will not like this class. Unlike most people you meet here i am not a huge foot ball fan. I guess it it because my brother makes up for the entire family in that section. I am a forest management major and I love being outside. I also enjoy history and would consider switching majors if it did not take so much english.

The letter written by Martin Luther King JR. was very well written and informative. It seems that he makes point after point to support his argument. He keeps a very calm tone throughout the letter but it is easy to tell at certain points he is very adamant about what he is saying. I think it is good how he tells the clergy men that they can’t understand what it is like to be put down and then gives several examples of what he has had to do for his kids because of segregation. He seems to appeal to many different emotions and backs his opinions with fact. In his writing he stays very composed and gives the impression that it was all very well thought out. Martin Luther King JR. also uses intelligent speech witch I feel makes it harder to push aside what he is telling you. When you are talking to a person who is smart you are more likely to agree with them than a person who sounds like he has no idea what he is talking about. He does a very good job of sounding like he knows what he is talking about, Witch he does so he should. Later in the letter he uses quotes from other well known and popular people to show that he is not the only one with this opinion that many other people also felt the way he did or shared similar problems and dealt with them in this way. Even though i feel that he did a good job of persuadeing i think that the letter was way to long. He also starts with the facts stage of the stasis theory when he is writeing. I think that this is not nessisary in most caces because people already know the facts. What he needs to focus more on is his oppinion about the facts.

I had a not so good four years of high school with not so good friends and no sports that i really enjoyed. After i graduated i decided that i was going to take a break from school and go to work for a while. i ended up driveing a School for a local school untill break started then i prepared for Penn state. At Penn State i selected forest management as a major and jumped right into it. For seinor week instead of partying like almost everyone else my age me and five buddys went to West Virgina for a week of hikeing in the craneberry glades. Yes west virginia is a beautifull place but shortly after you pass the welcome to West Virginia sign your cell phone stops working and dosnt come back on till you pass it going the other direction. I spent most of my break working and hanging out with friends but is good to be back in the school mentality. I have never spent more the 26 days away from happy valley and would like to do that some day.

What this title dose not point out is the fact that the wages are very diffrent not just state to state but also county to county. The article points out that places such as the mid west and southern states like Mississippi have a very low median income. But because of the diffrence in county to county you cant just look at this and decide it is not a nice place to live. For example while New Mexico is 7th from the bottom of the list with $35,634, Los Alamos county in new mexico has the nations highest median income of 93,089. Also Arkasas, Colorado, and Minnesota are all very high on the list aswell. This tells me that the people who analized the information here may not have looked close enough at the imformation. and made a choice by what was easy to see and not by lookig closer.

In his speach Bush does a wonderfull job of setting a mood. Int the first three paragraphs he sets a mood of patriotism, pride, and greif. After he sets the mood it makes it very easy for him to go into the point he wishes to argue. The mood he set made his point easer to follow and agree with. President Bush also does a very good job of saying thigs carefully while keeping his words powerfull. For example he talks about who is at fault and who is going to get there asses kicked because of what happened, but at t6he same time makes sure he is not affending anyone he dosnt want to. Bush does a very good job throughout the speach to keep his tone this way but in my oppinion he sometimes says thigs that may be to confident or to strong. For example about eight paragraphs down he says "Every nation, in every region, now has a decision to make. Either you are with us, or you are with the terrorists." I think that this statement may be a little too far out. I dont mean to sound unpatriotic but i think that this statement puts him in a position were he is likely o eat his words. in short it may not be very rational. All together it was a very good speach but what made it so great in the end was the attitude of the listener at the time of the speach and the attitude that he sets for it.
