The longest Two weeks of My Life

Just like any other typical senior in High School, I was trying to relax and enjoy my last summer home before I was beginning a whole new life style. I am a part of the varsity Women's Soccer team here at Penn State. We are currently ranked as number 8 in the country and striving for a National Championship. Instead of going out, partying everynight, not coming home until early the next morning, I had a goal set infront of me. Not only did I have to be fit for pre-season enabling me to pass my fitness tests but I wanted to play. Don't get me wrong I definately went out a lot but it wasn't the same. I spent nights watching everyone have an amzing time but in the back of my head I knew that tommarrow morning I needed to get up early and run. Every other Penn State student didn't need to be up at school until August 26th. Myself as an athlete needed to be here August 8th, for pre-season. Leaving home wasn't easy especially leaving almost 3 weeks early, giving me only the month of July as my "summer" being that I graduated June 26th. From August 8th until our first game which was on August 26, it was by far the longest two weeks of my life. We had two-a-day practice sessions every day for two weeks straight. My long days consisted of waking up at 8 in the morning training for two hours, eating then practicing again for another two hours.Not to mention all the hard work that we endoured, Im preatty sure I was sore every single day. I slept every second I could because I was so tired from running so much. Each day felt like they would never end. My roomate and I were stuck watching every DVD out there. We had no internet or cable we didn't even have our TV's. It was so hot in our rooms and there was no AC. Our cell phones barely even got service so anytime we wanted to talk to someone we would have to go all the way outside and of course we were on the 3rd floor. As bad as all this seems, it was worth it. I passed my fitness tests, I'm playing in games and I feel as if I'm in the best shape I have ever been in.

 

 

 

 

 

The Most People I have seen in a long time

 

Today I went to the football game with all the girls on my soccer team, we were presented in between the 3rd and 4th quater for winning the Big Ten league. Well since Iam a freshman we weren't allowed to go on the field because we really didn't help win it, being that it is our first year here. I have never been to a football game here but I have heard so many things about it. I was really excited to see what it looked like. When I walked into the stadium I was completely taken back by how many people were actually there. It was the most people I have seen in a long time. I got the chills as I was walking to my seat, I couldn't believe how many people were there and how they were completely obsessed with Penn State. Each and every person had so much pride in our school, I loved it. Thankfully we won,even though I was completely off about predicting the score.

 

 

 

 

The Big Win

Today the Penn State's women soccer team played the University of Virgina who are currently ranked number four in the country. It has so far been our biggest game since were only ranked number eight. The game was long and it was really hot out but we ended up defeating the University of Virgina 5-2,A suprising yet awesome win. No one thought we would win but we showed a lot and got the job done. Not only was it an awesome game but the fans were amazing to. There were about 2,746 people at our game today , the most Jefferey Field has ever held.

 

 

 

California

So school practically just started and I'm finally starting to get used to everything. Figuring out where all my classes are and getting there on time was definately the most difficult part. Now that im getting the hang of everything, the Women's Soccer Team will be leaving for California on Thursday, to compete in a tournament against UCLA and USC. As much as I want to go to California, it's going to be hard to come back have to start school again(I only have two days of classes this week). Even though I can't wait to see my best friend from home, she decided to go to UCLA and this year we just so happen to travel there to play them. I will admit that I am really excited to just go to California , I have never been to L.A and I heard it's gorgeous.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Study Hall

As a freshman student athlete Iam required to do 7 1\2 hours of study hall. Already starting out not having enough time to do anything the last thing I need, is to be streesed out about "getting my hours in". It is a really good way for student athletes to do their work and get everything done on time. My coach told all of us that if we don't get all of our hours in that the whole team will run every minute that wasn't complete and we have to sit and watch. The first week of classes we needed to get only 5 hours because there was no work to really be done but she only gave us 2 days to do it. I ended up not getting my hours in because I was so stressed everyday just trying to get used to everything. Today I got to practice and my team was being so mean to me. They did'nt care that it was hard for me, my coach told me it was just a warning.Thank god.

 

 

 

UCLA

On Friday 4:00 in the morning the Penn States women's soccer team took a trip to California. Today is the "big day" where we play UCLA. UCLA is ranked number three in the country as we are ranked number four. If we defeat them, we will then become number three and they will become number four. Also we will have our home field during the NCAA's if we stay ranked in the top four. If it comes down to it and if we beat UCLA they will have to travel to Penn State to play us. In conclusion, this game is huge. I couldn't be more excited. We play tonight at 6:00 aka 9:00 home(wish us luck).

 

 

 

 

Number 3 in the Country

At about eight thirty California time I was laying on the grass with all of my team mates on top of me. We beat UCLA 1-0 in double over time. In the first half, UCLA was completely dominating the game and we were playing like we were scared. We weren't used to the field and the fans were being obnoxious by yelling things at us. By the second half we were in control and we were the ones dominating. Opportunity after tackle the game was in our hands. At the end of the game it still remained a tie. We were forced to play in over time which consisted of ten minutes of play and whoever scored a goal first wins the game. If we were still tied after the first over time we would have to play a second. After the first ten minutes the score remained 0-0. About eight minutes into the second and last over time, Tiffany Wiemer scored the golden goal. Everyone ran and jumped on eachother as if we won a National Championship and that is how I ended up on grass with all of my team mates on top of me. It felt so good to beat them, my best friend plays on UCLA and she thought they were so good. We are now number three and they are now number four!

 

 

 

USC

Finally tommarrow we get a day off and we can relax in the beautiful L.A. Although we can't go to the beach we are able to go shopping and sight see. Tonight was a huge win and our team couldn't be more happy. My old coach always told me "Your only as good as your last game." As much as tonight was absolutly amazing our next competitionn is USC(University of Southern California). My old coach was right as good as it feel tonight, tomarrow is just a new day and on Sunday is just our next goal. I hope my team isn't too confident in ourselves and totally lets down for Sunday's game. If we loose on Sunday tonight's game will mean nothing. I think the feeling of defeating UCLA is to special to just let it go by loosing to USC.

 

 

 

 

Soccer Soccer Soccer

That's all I seem to talk about is soccer. I promise I do have a life besides soccer just right now the main thing that takes up all my time is soccer. Im always doing something going somewhere and the odds are it's for soccer. Some of my other hobbies are shopping, I love to shop. Going to the movies, I rather go to the movies then wait for the movie to come out on video. My ultimate favorite is spending time with my boyfriend and friends. I can never get enough of just being around him. His name is Nick and we have been dating for almost two years. Yea we say "I love you" and he is like my best friend. He is a year younger then me so he is still in High School. So far he has came to visit me two times. Once for my birthday on August 13th during pre-season and the other was about a week ago. I miss him a lot and I can't wait to see him next!

 

 

 

Number 2 in the country

After beating UCLA and USC, the Penn State's womens soccer team is ranked number 2 in the country! As of right now were are undeafeated with a record of 6-0. We made a preatty big change in only six games, coming from the number 8 spot all the way down to the number 2! The only team that is ahead of us is UNC, we have not played UNC in 3 years. The last time we played them was four years ago and we lost 3-0. Hopefully this year we will encounter them again and have a better turn out but for right now we need to take one game at a time.

 

 

 

Maryland

This Thursday, the Women's Soccer team will be traveling to play Maryland for our 7th league game. Last year, during the season Penn State defeated Maryland 6-0 but when they played them in the NCAA tournament they lost 1-0! This Friday's game will be a huge test for us. Maryland lost there best player due to a torn ACL this will only cause them to play dirtier and harder. Even though we may be technically better, they will definately give us a hard time.

 

 

Home

I have been at Penn State for a little over a month now and it feels as if I have been here for a year. Preseason was long but we are already into the season and we only have 13 games left. I guess the reason it feels like I have been here for so long is because my days are so long and busy? I really don't know why but as much as I love it here, I can't wait to go home. It's not that I hate it here and want to go home right now. I just can't wait to go home when the time comes. If we loose in the NCAA tournament early then I will get to go home for Thanksgiving but if we don't, which I hope we make it to the final four in Texas then I won't be able to come home till December 16th.

 

 

Jamaica

Last year for my spring break I went away to Jamaica with my boyfriend, his friend and my boyfriends parents. It was by far my favortie trip. We went to Negril, Jamaica and it was beautiful. My days consisted of: waking up when I felt like it,eating breakfast, tanning, jet skiing, eating lunch, jetskiing, napping, and then getting ready for a night out. I had so much fun every sinlge day, swimming in the carribean and relaxing on the beach. There was absolutly no drinking age and it was an all inclusive trip so we would just walk up to the bar as many times as we want and order whatever we felt like ordering. We were suppsed to go for 6 days 5 nights but we loved it so much we ended up staying an extra day. I can't wait for this year's spring break, I would like to go to a carribean island for 7 days 6 nights.

 

 

Jackie

Jackie and I have been best friends since 6th grade. We have never been away from eachother before and when we are in the same location, usually we are inseperable. When it was time for me to leave early for college it was really hard especially leaving her. I'm not used to being around anyone else 24\7 like I usually am with Jackie. Jackie and I look a lot alike and whenever were in public people always ask if were sisters(we always say yes). We act preatty much identical and people think of us as the same. Now that I am in college with out her it's really werid. We still talk a lot but not half as much. I'm so busy all the time and she has classes at night of course the only time I have off. We talk online but it's just not the same. She is coming to visit me in October and I can't wait. I am not the same person without her.

 

 

Mallory

Mallory and I have also been best friends since 6th grade, We have all been best friends since 6th grade. Mallory and I are not the same person and we aren't with eachother as much as Jackie and I. In a way, I like that. If I only had one best friend that was exactly like me I think I would get sick of her. Mallory and I are still just as close and I miss her just as much. She is attending Boston College this year, she is extremely smart. This weekend is her birthday she's turning 18 and Jackie is going to visit her. I wish I was able to visit her and spend the weekend with them but I have a game on Friday and Sunday.

 

 

The Big 10

After we defeated James Madison, we started a "new season". Although it litterally isn't a new season, my coach likes to act like it is. She says " The Big 10 is whole different style of play, there bigger,stronger and everyone is out to get you." We started off our "new season" by playing Indiana. We ended up beating them 2-0. On Sunday, we played against Perdue. Perdue was more difficult then Indiana, we ended up having to go into overtime. The score ended up being 3-2.

 

 

 

Northwestern & Wisconsin

Today at 4:00 we leave on a plane to go to Northwestern for friday's game. It is going to be our 5th Big 10 league game. As of now we are still 10-0 undeafeated. Northwestern is supposivly a good team but every team in the Big 10 is going to be a challenge. After we play Northwestern we are driving to Wisonsin to play them on Sunday at 1:00. From what I have been told, Wisconsin is better then Northwestern and we have to be ready for them. Im really exctied for both games, I hope we still continue our undeafter streak.

 

 

Exams

So far, I have taken 2 exams in the past week. College is way different from High School when it comes to preparation for tests. In high shcool, studying the night before and going over your notes in class right before the test would be suffcient. In college, if I dont prepare myself atleast 3 or 4 days before I would consider myself not ready. Getting used to college is taking longer then I expected but the more exams and pop quizes the more responsible I become.

 

 

2 weeks

In 2 weeks the penn state womens soccer team plays agaisnt Ohio State in Ohio. It is a friday night game and we dont have any games the rest of the weekend. So my coach said we are able to go home!! I can not wait to be able to go home and just sleep in my bed for one night. We are allowed to come home on saturday, sunday and come home monday. Im not going to tell any of my friends or boyfriend because I want to suprise them. I hope we play extremely well and win so she doesn't take back what she said! I'm so excited I can't wait. Don't get me wrong I absolutely love school, but I miss home and miss all of my friends.

 

 

Wheather.

I can't belive how cold it is already. I am not used to the cold wheather coming so early. At home it would still be warm enough to wear flip flops and skirts. Here, I can't even wear flip flops because my feet are freezing. I heard that at State College it gets really cold and I keep telling myself that it can't be that bad. The one thing I hate more then anything is playing soccer in the cold. Girls on my team said they didn't even know what cold meant until they came here. I hate cold wheather, I am such a beach\summer person. I'm scared to see how cold it is really going to get.

 

 

Illinois

On friday we played Illinois. This game was the biggest game so far in the Big 10 conference. It was the biggest game because we were both undeafeted. It was pouring rain the whole day and night not to mention it was absolutly freezing out. The conditions to play in were really hard but we ended up winning 3-1! It was a good game, even though we confidently won. It was also really fun because you could slide so much becasue of the wet ground.

 

 

Iowa

On sunday, we played Iowa it was very interesting. Coming into the game we knew that they weren't as good as the other team we have played> We definately didn't realize that they were that bad. We won 8-0, we haven't beaten anyone that badly all year so it felt good to beat a team really badly like we did. We are now 14-0 andd 6-0 in the big 10 conference. I hope we continue to winning streak! It feels awesome to be undeafeated, I can't picture us loosing, I hope it stays this way.

 

North Carolina

On Sunday, North carolina played against Duke. North Carolina is the only team that is ranked above us(number one). Duke is also located in North Carolina making them rivals. North Carolina played them at home which give the tar heels an advantage. After two, 45 minute halfs and double over time, Duke won. Which means that Penn State is number one in the country!It feels amazing to be playing on a team that is ranked number one in the whole country!

 

 

Practice

Practice is at the worst time of the day. Right after my last class, I'm always in a rush to get to practice. Not only am I always in a rush but I'm exhausted. I wish my coach would move practice just a little bit later so I wouldn't have to be a in rush and could maybe sleep so I could perform my best at practice instead of being so tired and laxadazical.But I have to go to practice now, and im so tired I dont feel like getting up.

 

 

Jessica and Nick

Jessica Simpson and Nick Lache got divorced!I can't believe that they actaully got divorced. I was so obsessed with there show. They were so cute together they made the perfect couple, both of them are beautiful. It seemed as if they wern't going to be like the rest of Hollywood. Who go out, get married then 2 years later break up. I thought they would be different being that the gifts they got one another were insane and especially how they had there own show together. I am very dissapointed that they broke up.

 

 

Ohio State

On Friday, October 14th Penn State played Ohio State. This game was not only a huge rivalary game but it was going to be televised! Both teams were extremely excited to play and you could tell by pace of the game in the first 10 minutes. Ohio State is a very tough team who hates us. Making competition very strenous. Tiffany Weimer scored in the first 5 minutes and we kept the lead the whole game. It was a rough win, but we did it and now we are 15-0 and remain number one in the country.

 

Bus Ride

Although we won and we were happy about that, the bus ride to Ohio was very long and uncomfortable. It was about 6 hours and we only stopped once. I had lots of work to do but it was so hard to concentrate with the constant bumps and loud talking on the bus. Sinco most girls did'nt do there work on the bus they were bored and wanted to watch a movie. So trying to read and write was very difficult. I tried to read, but then I couldn't remember what I just ahd read so I would have to read it over again, making it pointless for me to read. The next bus ride we take is to Michigan and Michigan state, I thought 6 hours was bad. The bus ride to Michigan is 9 hours!!

 

December Break

As much as I love it here I can't wait to go home and see my friends. This past weekend I was able to go home. It was such a tease because all I didn't want to come back to school. I love being at home and doing what I usually do, sleeping in my own bed, driving where ever. I hope all of my finals are early in the week so I am able to go home earlier.

 

High School Soccer

This past weekend I went home for about two nights. All I did was hang out with my boyfriend because I missed him so much. But I also got to go to my school teams soccer practice and say hi to my old teamates and coaches. High school soccer doesn't even compare to college soccer because the isn't half as much competivness and intensity. I still love the game both ways but there is a lot less stress in playing High School soccer, although I love college soccer way better.

 

Halloween

I am so excited for Halloween this year. I already have my costume. On the women's soccer team, each class does something together. There is 5 of us who are all dressing up together as one theme. Each class has there own theme. I heard that Halloween here is so much fun. The only annoying part is that it is on a Monday this year, which means we have school that day. It would be amazing if we didn't have classes that day but I am sure that would never happen.

After reading the link on the Syllabus about Stigmergy, I still do not know what it is ? I don't know what to write being that I do not know what it means...

 

 

Causal Argument #1

The article that I found is about a vaccine for the Whopping cough that will decrease the illness up to one million cases each year. The Whooping cough is affecting teenagers and adults and even causing deaths among young children. The vaccines was tested on 2,800 people from the ages of 18-65 and it was proved 92 % effective. The whooping cough has decreased over the past half century because children have gotten shots to prevent it by the age of 6. In the 1990's, outbreaks among teenagers and adults have increased greatly due to the wearing off of immunity. Older vaccines are said to give side effects, there are two new types of Vaccine one for children from 10-18 and the other is from ages 18-65, the new vaccines is said to build up the persons immunity.

 

Claim: A new vaccine is said to prevent about one million cases of the Whooping cough.

 

Reason: Since immunity wears off there has been an outbreak in cases of the Whooping cough since 1990, the new vaccine is proved to be 92%effective. Young children are dying from the Whooping cough because it breaks there ribs and new vaccine is being introduce to reduce the spread of this illness.

 

Counter: Some parents don't belive in using vaccines which may cause the Whooping cough to kill there young children or there older children

may suffer and pass it on to other people.

 

 

 

Causal Argument #2

This article that I found has proved that if you step on a scale everyday it will prevent people from regaining lost weight. Doctors say that it is important to keep lost weight off because most dieters regain a third of the lost weight within the first year and two-thirds within the second year! There was a study done to prove such information. It consisted of 291 people who in 2 previous years had lost 10 percent of there body weight. They were randomly put into three groups. One group was called face-to-face,another was called the Internet group and lastly there was the monthy newsletter group. All groups were told to keep on track of weight loss but in different ways. 46% of the face-to-face group( people who interacted with people face-to-face to help loose weight) and 55% of the Internet group( who got e-mails and chats to remind them of weight loss) had regained 5 pounds of 17 months compared to 77 % of the monthly newsletter people who gained 5 pounds or more. They were told to weigh themselves everyday for months after to keep there weight off. The 38% who actually wighed themselves kept the weight off compared to the 68% who did not weigh themselves who gained weight instead!

 

Claim: Weighing yourself everyday will prevent you from regaining lost weight.

Reason: When you weigh yourself everyday "your more likely to catch the little pounds and puts yourself back on track"

Counter: When you weigh yourself everyday it can cause you to become depressed if not happy with what the scale has been showing over the past couple of months leading you to give up or not care and gain more weight.

 

 

10\18 Evauluative Argument #1

I found an aritice on msnbc.com [http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/9673058/] about how Lullabies can help premature babies.

Claim: Lullabies can help recover premature babies enabling them to leave the hospitol 2 weeks earlier.

Reason: Putting music in premature babies incubators will soothe them, relax them expand their brains causing them to recover much quicker.

Counter: Although almost every baby has on average been able to leave the hospitol 2 weeks early, not every baby leaves in exactly 2 weeks some docotrs say that music doesn't cure all.

My counter argument: I think if you care for the baby right way it may take time but they will hopefully get better eventually.

 

 

 

The Bus Ride to Michigan

The Bud ride to Michigan was 8 hours!Last week we took a trip to Ohio and that took 6 hours. I thought that bus ride was horrible but I was mistaken. This was the worst bus ride I have ever taken. I tried to sleep but I couldn't get comfortable. We watched 2 movies and the first one I woke up in the middle of it so I didn't understnad what was going on and the second movie was silence of the lambs and it was disgusting an scary. So I ended up reading a magazine for 3 hours. Then we hit traffic, so we weren't even moving and I didn't feel good. This was the worst bus ride ever and what sucks even more is that we have to come back here in a week for the Big Ten Tournament!

 

 

Minnisota

Last night we played Minnisota it was the closest game we have played so far. They were our toughest competition, not so much that they were better then anyone else we have played so far but they were the most competetive. We played them at there home field and there fans were out of control. They kept yelling at all of us repeating " Penn State is overated". We were tied the whole entire game, we had to go into double over time. If we lost this game then we would have ruined our undefeated season.

 

Over Time

So far we have won 3 games in overtime, Minnisota made it our fourth win. I hate over time more then anything, it's very stressful. You get two ten minute sudden death periods. Sudden death means whoever scores first wins the game. We never went threw one whole ten minute over time till this game. We were still tied after the first ten minutes and went more then half way threw before we finally scored. We scored with four minutes left in the game, I crossed it and Allie Krieger scored an amazing goal with her head. We won our streak continues. 18-0!

 

Women in the Work Force

For Halloween this year , the five freshman on the soccer team are being women in the work force. We had the best costumes they consisted of: A french maid, police officer, nurse, carpenter, and a mail women. They were awesome costumes and every other class was jealous of how good we all looked together. The Juniors did holidays which was a good idea but ours was way better. I can't wait till after the Navy game tommarrow so we can finally go out.

 

Navy

Today we played Navy and by the end of the first half it was only 1-0. They were not supposed to be to good. So our half time talk wasn't to nice. My coach said she was disappointed because it was only 1-0 especially because it was senior day. There were about 1800 people watching and we weren't putting on a show for them. So in the second half we turned it around. The final score was 5-0, and we finally ended our season 19-0, Big Ten Champions and first penn state women's soccer team to ever end there season undefeated.

 

Our Halloween

Tonight we finally get to go out for the first time in so long. Every other weekend we have been away so we weren't able to go out and have fun. I can't wait for tonight to get all dressed up with everyone. I heard Halloween was really fun here so I can't wait. Even though tonight really is "Halloween", it is our Halloween.

 

The Big Ten Tournament

This Wednesday we are taking a bus back to Michigan to compete in the Big Ten Tournament. It's really hard missing so much school when your trying to do good. Especially how it's so important to be in class to do well. For me atleast, I do so much better in school when I am there litsening and paying attention. This wednesday we leave for the tournament so the only days I am going to school is Monday and Tuesday which means I miss Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.... really sucks.

 

 

NCAA

The NCAA tournament starts after the Big Ten Tournament. The drawing for the tournament is the Monday we get back. Hopefully we stay undeafeated, so we remain as the number one seat. If we remain ranked number one in the country then we get home field advantage. Having home field advantage would be amazing. Not only do we not have to travel but then we won't have to miss school and my parents will be able to come. Not to mention playing on my favorite field would make it so much better.

 

Ipod

I am completely obsessed with my ipod. I don't think I could ever travel without it. I think I would be lost with out it. It makes anything boring so much better. I am litsening to my ipod as we speak. Kanye West heard em say is such a good song. "Nothing is ever promised tomarrow today." - my favorite qoute from the song.

 

Cellphone

Not only am I obsessed with my ipod but my cell phone is attached to my ear. Everyone always makes fun of me because everytime they see me I'm talking on my phone. Usually talking to my boyfriend or my mom and dad. Sometimes I am talking my best friends. I don't talk to my best friends that much only because we have different scheduales but I try to talk to them on the phone when I can. We talk online so it's fine but I miss them so much I can't wait to see them.

 

Time flies

I can't believe that it is already November! It feels like yesturday that I was coming here for preseason. It's going so fast I can't like realize why Iam here. I still feel like the only reason im at Penn State is because I'm at some long soccer camp. Even though obviously thats not the reason but all I do play soccer. I am always so caught up on something with soccer that it's hard to focus on school. This month is going to go fast then I get to go home!

 

Study Hall

Last night at study hall I had nothing to do so me and my friend were on aim instead of working. My academic advisor came in the room and told us to get off and we thought he left so we just stayed online. Ten minutes later he came in the room again and he said that our hours for tonight won't count. We leave Wednesday morning and we needed 4 hours and we both had none, so the only time we could get hours would be that night but we go in trouble so we got all of hours taken away. We called our coach we hope she's no mad but I am guessing she will be mad.

 

Going away

I honestly do not like to go away. I always miss so much school and it's really hard to make up the work. It's even really hard to complete the work while your away because usually were on the bus and being on the bus it's so hard to concentrate and doing work only results in your feeling sick. Then when we finally get to the hotel, your just tired and everyone else is watching a movie. It is really hard to just sit down and do work with no distractions.

 

EGEE

Since I have such a hard time leaving so much I dropped my EGEE class. I am rediculously happy that I dropped that class. Not only was doing poorly in it, but I have no interest in Energy and Protection of Energy. I would go to class take the best notes I could, try my best to pay attention and I still just wouldn't understand. Maybe I had such a hard time understanding it because I hated learning about it. Well it doesn't matter anymore because I dropped it and I don't have to worry about it anymore. Thank god.

 

50 cent

So 50 cent just came out with his new movie Get Rich or Die Trying, it came out wednesday and I saw on on Friday night and Saturday night with my boyfriend. I didn't think I would really like it, but I ended up loving it and I want to see it again. 50 cent also just came out with his new cd that corresponds with the movie and I love it(haha). No one would ever exect me to love 50 cent but I do. The girls on my soccer team make fun of me a little bit but I don't care its funny.

 

Boyfriend

I'm so happy my boyfriend came this weekend, I haven't seen him in 3 and half weeks and I missed him to death. He came Friday night but since he hit traffic he missed my game but I did'nt even care because I missed him so much. He stayed Friday night, Saturday and Saturday night but left Sunday morning. He didn't stay for my game because he had a lot of homework to do and if he left any later he would have hit lots of traffic. I feel bad he has to come all the time. If I didn't have soccer I would come home a lot but I can never leave because every weekend I have soccer. The spring will be different though.

 

Practice

It's starting to get really cold out, and having practices outside is really annoying. You get so cold you can't move, your muscles are so tight and cold that if you sprint or change speed you feel like you pulled something, you have like 30 layers of clothing on to keep warm but some how still freezing? If by any chance you ever get warm and decide to take a layer off, you stop running for about thiry seconds and need to put it back on. I wish we could practice indoors in Huluba but the Football team practices there when we would have time to. But if we when the next two weekend than we get to go to Texas for the final four.

 

Bucknell

We played Bucknell for our first NCAA tournament game. We played at 5:00 at night on Friday and it was absolutly freezing. We won 6-0, at the game there was more Bucknell fans then Penn State fans. The fans from Bucknell were really funny but trying to be mean and take us out of our game. We gave them something to shut up about though. It was a fun game but then I got kicked in the back of my heel really bad and had to sit out for the second half. It was freezing out, I couldn't feel my feet. I heard Penn State was cold but I didn't realize how cold it really is, I was told in only gets worse?

 

Saturday

I love Saturdays, we have an hour practice if that usually it's only 30-45 minutes and then we have the whole entire day to our selves. Thankfully my boyfriend came so I got the whole day to spend with him but if he wasn't around I would usualy go downtown and go shopping, go out to lunch. I usually eat every meal at the dinning hall which get's annoying because I'm starting to get used to everything they have. It's just so convient and I'm to lazy or don't have enough time to walk downtown to get something. Saturday usually I get anything I need to get done: laundry, homework, shopping etc.

 

West Virgina

For our second round in the NCAA tournment we had to play West Virgina. This game was definately more difficult then the Bucknell game. We scrimmaged against them in preseason and tied! It was our first game ever so it didn't really matter how we did, it was just a practice. We ended up winning 5-2. We advance to the Sweet 16! Last year around this time we lost and didn't even advance to the Sweet 16. Next weekend we play Texas A&M, we never played them before. They are ranked number 8 in the country, they we more intense then West Virgina but thank god were home. Last time Penn State played Texas A&M , my team mates said that they were so cold here they had vaseline on their faces because they were so cold! haha.

 

Ali Kreiger

We had the biggest upset last week at practice when Junior midfield broke her Tibia. Not only did she start and play every minute but she is by far one of the best players on our team. She is an amazing attribute to our teams success and without her, our whole entire team is going to have to step up a level to make up for her absence. She played right next to me in the center of midfield. We worked really well together, I had a lot of fun playing with her. It going to be really different without her but if we want to win we have to come together and play the best we can and work even harder.
