So last weekend i went to party with a bunch of my friends. Like i said before im local, and we have a tendency to hang out with other local kids more than new people we meet, which you could say takes away from the college experience. You could say that, but then i would say i have more friends at college than you. Anyway, it was pretty sweet and there was no reason in the entire world that the cops didnt come because i didn't leave until literally 6 in the morning, and there were still tons of people there carrying on and making noise when i took my leave.

Speech class sucks. I took one in high school and i hated it then, and since im an idiot im taking one in college, and i still hate it. I can't write speeches to save my life, and I don't understand how its possible to make eye contact with your audience when reading them. I have the memory of a goldfish, so it's not like i can just look at the first word of a sentance and remember what the rest of it says. I never know what to write about so i just wrote this speech about cats. I don't even like cats. This is gonna suck.

Though this is a bit late, maybe you could use the research from this class to give you ideas for your speeches. So, for example, speeches on punk rock or Sin City. TheKemBlog

I'm terrible at basketball now. I hadn't played for almost six months before i went to play at the IM building last night. I think it's safe to say that i shot better when i was in seventh grade than i do now. I probably went something like 3 for 15 over 3 games, which in the state of georgia is legal allowance to shoot one's self. Plus, I'm out of shape now and i was absolutely exhausted after two games. I can't wait to go pro.

I actually totally forgot i was supposed to respond the state of the union tonight, until when i ment to go watch something entertaining on TV, our commander in chief was on the screen instead of Seinfeld, or something. I care about our country very much, and i consider myself a fairly politically opinionated person, but i hate state of the union speeches. I hate it when any politician anywhere ever can just say whatever he wants without someone being allowed to stand up and go, "Um, bullshit", especially when that is generally what comes out of our current president's mouth. I do enjoy presidential debates, or any other show when both sides are expressed evenly. State of the union's however, has no real reason to say the truth, since no one can say differently while hes on the screen. The best thing anyone with beef can do is talk about it later on a different show, but next weekends the superbowl, and what are you gonna rather watch? The steelers win Bettis his first super bowl in his last game in his hometown of Detroit, or Bill O'reilly talk about how much smarter he is than you. Hmm, tough call.

Proposal

By Mason Whitehill

My argument paper is going to be on the definition of punk rock. There are many bands that are popular now or where popular that because of their clothes or hair style were lumped into the genre of punk rock. However, many of these bands sound nothing like the music that came out of the U.K. in 1975. Punk rock is not simply a music style however, it is a sub culture. There is a kind of attitude that comes with punk, and an ideal structure based on rebelling at any cost. I think this is an arguable point because there are many people out in the world that listen to Avril Lavigne or Good Charlotte and believe themselves to be punk rockers. They would be insulted if I told them these artists were only pseudo-punk, and that their record companies tell them to spike their hair, or where eye liner and flick off cameras, or do “shocking” things in public, because its good publicity. I think that the term punk rock is being vastly overused, and due to that it has begun to lose its importance. True punk bands like The Clash or The dead kennedys are being forgotten on a large scale for the newer, more radio friendly pop punk of Blink 182 and Sum 41. While these artist create catchy melodies, it is merely The Jackson Five with Mohawks and tattoos. So, my argument will be that True punk artists should be the only ones referred to as punk, and that punk posers should be referred to as something else. Like junk.

I think that this is a very good topic, because I am a big rock fan, including classic punk, and agree that what is often considered punk today is not. My only suggestion would be in the paper, to clearly define true punk rock, and define types of rock that are labeled as punk which in fact are not, but avoid evaluating these types of rock using negative opinions and such. Try to stick to just defining punk itself.

Sin City evaluation proposal

I will be evaluating the movie Sin City. (Movie titles should be italicized or underlined. See WikiStyle to learn how!) Based on the graphic novels by Frank Miller, this was argueably the most visually appealing film I have ever seen. Co-directed by Miller and Once Upon a time in mexico's director Raul Rodrigez, it was at the top of the box office for a redicoulously long time. Featuring and All star ensemble cast, including Bruce Willis, Mickey Rourke, Jessica Alba, Elijah Wood, and many other big name actors, it is my favorite movie of all time. Incredibly violent yet poetic in its writing, anyone who considers themselves an action movie or comic book buff has to see this film.

Visually appealing according to what criteria? That's the crux, isn't it? You'll want to look at the graphic novels upon which the movies are based. Notice that film adaptations of graphic novels is its own genre, and that might help with the criteria. Finally, you need some sources. Both the movie and the novels would count. TheKemBlog

I think that it is physically impossible for me to stay awake for an entire class of anthropology. It's not because its a particularly early class, since it starts at 11 15, and I even got a full eight hours of sleep last night. There is just something about the class that puts me out like triptofan. I even kind of find it interesting, cavemen and cromagnon's, etc, are pretty cool. But I just can't do it.

The winter olympics are boring. I don't care about any of the sports that are being played, other than hockey. And the U.S. team is pretty damn awful. The ratings for the olympics must be absolutely terrible, because I don't know one person that cares about any of the sports being played. Other than hockey. Figure skating is boring and girly, if youve seen one bobsled run, you've seen them all and i don't care about skiing or speed skating or curling, which seems to be the most interesting thing on the TV. How unathletic do you have to be to decide a sport that uses brooms as it's main equipment is the right sport for you? Does the olympic committee even bother to check the curlers for steroids? Or mind altering substances? I would need massive ammounts of mind altering substances if I got to go all the way to Italy to play in the olympics, and i was less important than the broom I used.

I hate this weather. I can't stand the cold to begin with, and then the fact that its windy on top of that is just weak. It's march now, and it should start warming up immediately. Or at least I think it should. Right now i'm sitting around watching probably the most intentionally bad movie of all time, "The man with the screaming brain." It stars Bruce Campball from the "Evil Dead" movie saga, which were B movies at best. But I love them.

I have not been keeping up with the blogging. I suck. Sorry. I promise I'll write like a storm towards the end of the semester to make up for it.
