Please don't let your blog languish. TheKemBlog

I am finally trying to catch up on some much needed sleep after flying the red eye home from Hawaii. It was a long flight but because we had won, made it a little bit nicer. It is going to take awhile to get adjusted after the 8 1/2 hour flight and only getting maybe a hour of sleep. I guess my next task is to get unpacked with everything.

Well once again, I will be missing class. I love volleyball and I am soo happy that I play for PSU, but it gets tough missing as much school as we are doing. I will be doing a lot of studying on our 3 hour flight to Lincoln. It should be a good tournament. Our last game there is against #1 ranked Nebraska. It should be a very good game in front of a sold out crowd. It would be a great thing to win it all!

Well, I just got back from Nebraska, and it was horrible! We played so well in the beginning, and then we played horrible in the final game against Nebraska. It's so frustrating when you know you didn't play as well as you should have, almost as if you let your team down. I guess we are just going to take that loss as a learning experience and go from there.

I can not believe that there is another hurricane! It is crazy how hard the US is getting hit this year by so many different events. I just hope that there will never again be a hurricane as bad as Katrina. No one deserves to go through that twice, let alone once.

I have to say, I am so happy to have the roommate that I have. I see the struggles that some of my friends are having with their roommates and realize how lucky I really am. I think it was a really good idea of ours to room together when were were on the Junior National team, to decide if it was possible to live with each other. I really don't regret my decision to live with her! We have so much fun together!

I think that debate and dialogue can be considered the same in the aspect of debating being in the dialogue. If the two do not corresponde with each other, I do not believe that they are the same. Debating is an argument when either party is trying to express themselves to prove a point to either each other or a group of people, the conversation is not already planned out. When someone says dialogue, I think of theatre lines or an already written conversation. So, comparing the two, I do not think that they are similar.

Well we had the usual defense day on Tuesday, and it was possibly the worst day of my life. It was possibly the toughest practice that we have had ever. Not even preseason could come close to this practice. I did learn a lesson though, don't get swept by the number one team in the nation while playing bad.

Last night was one of the craziest nights that I have ever had. Never again will I clean up after someone because they can't control themselves! I was up all night and had to go have brunch at the Nittany Lion Inn, which was very good by the way, and then come back to my room and clean up more junk. It was definetly not a good typical night out!

We play Illinois tonight. It will be a tough match. I am kind of scared because it is my first Big Ten match. The team has so much pressure to do well in the Big Ten since we are rated No. 1 and are supposed to win it. I really want to come out and play well for my first home Big Ten match.

We beat Illinois in 3 games. That was a good way to start out the big ten season. I thought that we played well as a team in stopping the offense of Illinois. I just hope that we are able to play Purdue well, coach lets us know everyday that he thinks that they have the possibility of winning the whole big ten.

Purdue is good. We beat them in a close five games. The first game thet just absolutely humiliated us. We were able to pull it together in the second game, but then lost the third game and won the fourth and the fifth. We didn't play as well as we should have, but a win in the big ten is a legitament win.

Cambodia It is amazing what power will do to people. The "leaders" of Cambodia were heartless and didn't care if there was a single person left standing in their country. I guess I am confused that they are killing all of these people, yet want to be a powerful country at the same time. How did they think that this was okay to do?

Stigmergy is your place in life. You know what you are to do and how to do it. You better your surroundings to better others'. You know how to work with others and by yourself.

Last week our team did not practice well after coming off a FIRST TIME two day break because we played so well that weekend. We played Michigan and Michigan St. on Friday and Saturday. We beat both teams handily but coach wasn't very happy with our play. Hopefully we will be better this week with some good practices and games.

Practice for Monday and Tuesday were the easiest practices I think that I have ever had. I have always said that Tuesdays are the worst days of my life, well I changed my mind. This Tuesday was the easiest practice for a defense day that we have ever had, and let me tell you, I enjoyed every minute of it.

Friday we played Iowa. It was the worst game that I have ever played in. Everything just went wrong, and the more I tried, the worse it got. I wanted to cry. I was taken out and didnt play in the third game.

Saturday was much better. We absolutely killed Minnesota. The first game had the score of 30-9, a complete imbarrassment for Minnesota. We played so well together and had so much fun infront of a crowd of over 4,000 people. Coach was happy, so today is another great day because we don't have practice!!! It will be so nice to rest and catch up on everything and hopefully get ahead.

Q & W

On Cnn.com I found a story about a Turkish court that fined 20 people because they were using the letters Q and W on placards at a Kurdish new year celebration. There is a law, made in 1928, that bans the use of letters not in the Turkish alphabet.

I was curious about this story, since I've a passing interest in Islamic nations and secularisation. The following quotation from your article is particularly interesting to me: "The 1928 Law on the Adoption and Application of Turkish Letters changed the Turkish alphabet from the Arabic script to a modified Latin script and required all signs, advertising, newspapers and official documents to only use Turkish letters." Mustafa Kemal Ataturk led a cultural revolution in Turkey beginning around 1928. His goal was to Europeanize Turkey, and the alphabet reform is part of that effort. Interestingly enough Turkey began to promote a form of Islam more conducive to European lifestyles. There is some reason to believe that the Turkish government's promotion of that form of Islam in other Islamic countries is one of the principal sources of current tensions between European nations and Islamic fundamentalism. Simply put, fundamentalists do not have the support and encouragement to become active participants that other more palatable forms of Islam enjoy. TheKemBlog

I think that I going to write my proposal on childhood obesity. I have grown up with friends that had weight problems, and agreed and disagreed with their reasoning on it. I think that it will give me a better understanding on obesity and how you can stop it.

My roommate tore her acl at last Saturday's game against Iowa. She was one of the top middles in the nation, anad on our team. I am really bummed for her, she was so disappointed, she is even looking at possibilities of still playing on it. I want her to be happy, but I don't want her to injure herself anymore than she already has.
