Response to "Defining Terrorism"
The definition of terrorism has various meanings to different people and depends on the context that its being used in. As Oxford describes it is scene as a policy and methods of intimidation. While Webster describes it as governing by intimidation or in the context of the Reign of Terror. Surprisingly, terrorism it self deals with the harming of other people. These acts of intimidation aren't just words they are specific actions with the purpose to get a point across, or to obtain freedom. As it says "one person's terrorist is another person's freedom fighter", which is trying to validate these acts. After 9/11 and the "Acts of Terrorism" my personal definition of the word is different that that in the dictionary. There was no policy that was governed and it wasn't for intimidation. They were acts of war and with the intention of harming other lives as well as themselves. Thus, terrorism is a difficult concept to grasp but has a clear end result, one man's prosperity and another man's demise.

Response to "President George W. Bush's Address to Congress 2001"
President Bush's address to congress in 2001 was in response to the terrorist acts against our country. This was a rhetoric where he was put in a position to inform, lead, encourage, and reinforce the ideals of this country. He did this in many ways while being considerate to those affects, those who witnessed it, as well as those who had wrong feelings toward it. He also tested our citizens and there beliefs in this quote "Tonight we are a country awakened to danger and called to defend freedom. Our grief has turned to anger, and anger to resolution. Whether we bring our enemies to justice, or bring justice to our enemies, justice will be done." This is important because he is assuring those who are scared and angry that himself as a leader wont rest until there is retribution for these heinous acts. Bush might not of wanted to address his nation but he was forced to and like all great speakers that know how to address there audience he used claims of facts and appealed others by using emotion, while ensuring justified payback. This is big because of the state that people were in at the time and i believe that the point of the address was achieved and it eased, informed and encouraged Americans.

Response to “Universal Declaration of Human Rights, 1948”
The fact they nationally adopted the Declaration of Human Rights is a big step into establishing rights for all. The purpose is "to cause it to be disseminated, displayed, read, and expounded principally in schools and other educational institutions, without distinction based on the political status of countries or territories." Putting the beliefs on education supports this world claim that knowledge is key to successful children. Education is the most essential tool to a person success and dignifying people with theses basic rights they are insuring that all are free and fundamentally same people. In a utopian world, everyone is equal and no one person can take your basic rights from you and vice versa. This is necessary for all people to live and it shows the character of nations when they take the stand to give the people of there community basic rights and equality to pursue all aspects that can better them as a person.

Response to FDR's "The Four Freedoms" 1941
President Franklin Roosevelt's 'Four Freedoms' speech was on that the Americans at the time needed to hear. They were about to enter the war and with his ability to inspire and delineate a great future this address was moving. Here he touched what everyone held true to their hearts "freedom" and showed that the United States and other nations must do everything in its power to make sure that we never loose that freedom. Roosevelt was well respected and with this, he reached a whole new style and echelon with the people and the tyrants trying to take away what all people deserve, rights. The Four Freedoms speech is very historic that touched freedom of speech and expression, freedom of worship, freedom from want, and freedom from fear. These are essential to the lives of all and this great president, with words, exacerbated the meanings of all these freedoms and touched the hearts of all in the time that they needed it most.

"USA Today: Snapshot" Claims
The USA Today Snapshot listed on January 19 at 11:55 PM, states that Duke is the favorite in college hoops.
Claim 1: Duke University’s Men Basketball team is number one in the country.
Claim 2: Duke University’s “Blue Devils” are the most favor team in college basketball at 8% while North Carolina’s “Tar Heels” are at 6% and the Kentucky “Wild Cats” are at 4%.
Claim 3: According to the poll Duke University Men’s basketball is number one amongst college teams and fans ages 12 and older.
Claim 4: The North Carolina “Tar Heels” must be worst in standings nationally compared to The Kentucky “Wild Cats” because they are less favorable in the polls.

Revision of E30M3’s Personal Narrative
Hello my name is Sheffield Marcus. I grew up in Rockland County, New York with my mother and father going to local colleges and now I have decided to go to PSU, to do greater things. I graduated high school this past spring and I attended Syracuse University to take summer courses to better my future career. Over the past semester I had a lot of great things happen that I wont forget, like the time when we went down to Howard’s Homecoming and saw rapper “Jim Jones” and went to numerous clubs. That trip was something that I will never forget because of the time spent there and the crazy conversations with my friends on the car ride back. I know that as my time here progresses that I will have a lot more stories to tell.

Response to “Martin Luther King's Letter from the Birmingham Jail"
Martin Luther King's “Letter from Birmingham Jail” is one of the most difficult and changeling addresses in my opinion. Dr. King calls for action by all men to do what is just in their hearts, and not to conform to the ignorance of society. Not to just say you believe something but to actually find yourself practicing what you preach. Here while this activist sits in jail he still praises those men who arrested him wrongly for there job well done and encourages them to continue there job, accurately and with blindness of race. What person can say that they would shake the hand of a person that just smacked them in the face? I know of only one other person Jesus Christ. This is what this letter promotes, for people to endure hardship, take wrongful punishment, and to have the power to say thank you and continue in your path to freedom. I don’t know about the rest of you, but I don’t think I would be able to do what Mr. King has done in the past and urged others to follow. This letter is also an inspirational letter of hope to all because even though things don’t seem to be going your way there are people who will let “disappointment” stop them from moving onward for great things. “They have carved a tunnel of hope through the dark mountain of disappointment”. I believe that this address message can be grasped by any person who reads it and it has certainly touched many. The question I ask is in what way has it urged people to take “action”?

Hello, my name is Sheffield Marcus, people usually call me Sheff. I was brought into this world April 3, 1987, and I've been enjoying it ever since. Like most people I started off in the College of DUS my first semester, but moved into the College of Health and Human Development. I'm currently a Biobehavioral Health Major and aspire to attend medical school. I am a very unique individual that likes to have fun, while not forgetting his main goals in life. Basketball is my one hobby that has integrated into my lifestyle and I’ve really reached another echelon in my game the past couple of years. I chose to come to Penn State because of its fine prestige not to mention the endless drunken nights. With all that said, I look forward to getting to know more about you all in this class, while getting to know myself a little better as well.
