1st Semester almost over!

Wow I can't belive it. I was planning on staying in tonight in order to be more rested for studying this weekend and taking exams next week, but now I'm going to the Beta formal tonight. My friend Natalie is going to it too, thank god... since I barely even know this date either. What's with guys asking so late? He asked last night! I'm pretty excited though.

*December 7, 2005*

So excited...

I am looking forward to a lot in the next few months, finals NOT included. I should start stuyding for them, the problem is I never did and high school and I'm having trouble teaching myself how to now. It's 12:50am so it's sort of still Tuesday, but really Wednesday. I'm about to edit my conclusion which is realllyy short right now. But anways what I'm excited for (1) Acacia formal friday, (2) Christmas Break, (3) Orange Bowl.

I randomly got asked to go to this formal by a guy I only met a few times during Homecoming week. It should be fun though, I convinced my friend to go with another guy in this frat because his date ended up having another commitment she couldn't get out of. These two have never met before, but they should get along well haha.

Breakkkkk need I say more? With finals over, no classes, no work, and my best friends that I miss so much... what could be better? I am soo pumped for break now = ) Only about one more week!

Orange Bowl! Tonight me and my friend found out that Jordan Norwood can hook us up with tickets = ) I am so pumped because I didn't know how I would get one, not being a season ticket holder. Everything else is covered too... We're staying at a condo of an Aunt of one of my good guy friends, and our plane tickets are practically free because her dad has so many frequent flyer miles. It would be incredible to cheer at this game, but I'm glad things worked out... It will be fun to tailgate and have a fans' perspective for once = )

Orange Bowl Baby!!!

I can't believe it is already December, time flies when you're having fun! haha. Tonight we watched the bowl bids on ABC, and Joe Pa was so cute as usual. He talked about how his wife and the coach from FSU's wife are friends and he doesn't want the two to go out together because Mrs. Paterno will spend too much money. I'm a little disappointed Virginia Tech lost last night and won't be our opponents in this game January 3rd. Three of my best friends go there and I would have if I didn't chose Penn State over it. I'm pretty sure I made the right choice though, this place is awesome. But anyways, me and my friend are going to try and go down to watch the game! I'm just not sure if I will be able to get a ticket considering I'm not a season ticket holder. I'm proud of our wonderful Nittany Lion Football team and really glad that our freshmen year was an amazing one to experience football-wise.

Party at the Lions'

Yes, our Nittany Lion is truly a "party animal." On Friday he had a little shindig in honor of all of the sports teams that were titled as big ten champions... Congratulations to the Football team, Women's Soccer team, Men's Soccer team, Women's volleyball team, and (I can't remember the other right now : / )!!! It was fun, Dave and the two band members he did “Thriller” with at the game performed once again in their apartment.

Late night in computer lab

I'm taking a break from studying for my nutrition exam, so I might as well make it somewhat productive. It's 12:20am and technically the 30th, but since I haven't slept yet, I will count this blog for today. I'm really not looking forward to these next few weeks school work-wise. Tomorrow I have an exam in my hardest class at 6:30pm and that's all I have been focusing on the past few days. Then I have to work on this draft as soon as I get out of the exam. I definitely won't have enough time working on it tomorrow night, so I bet Thursday will be spent trying to do it also. Thanksgiving was SUCH a tease, I can't wait till finals are over, it is going to be so nice being home and not having any work to worry about! I have to take four exams and I'm really not looking forward to it : / Well I better get back to studying... yay!

Chili’s

I'm not sure how to spell the name of the restaurant haha... Tonight I didn't have anything involved with cheerleading because half of our squad had to cheer at the Basketball Game. I took advantage of this free night and spent a lot of it studying, then took a break and went to Chili’s with someone. I have had barely any time to eat a real dinner out here, so going out was nice.

Back in Happy Valley

Forgot about blogging, I could have done some at home but I was completely lazy the whole time. Thanksgiving break was so fun, but went way too fast. It was so good to see my friends and family again, I didn’t realize how much I missed them while I was busy out here. I’m beginning to get a little stressed about how I will do on my finals though. But before we know it, this semester will be over! I can’t believe it. I guess time flies when you’re having fun.

Home

Being home in good old Hunterdon County was like going back in time. I got home Tuesday around 5:00 and ten minutes later all of my closest girlfriends showed up at my house. We went to my friend’s dad’s restaurant together which was fun as always. Then once I got back home, I was going to stay in, sleep, maybe do some homework, but my guy friend ended up having some people over. Then I stayed over my friends who I have known since I was born. On Wednesday I got a few things done, worked out then the crazy Callens who I previously blogged about had people over. Going over there was like déjà vu, being with a lot of the kids in the grade above us who we hung out with a lot. It was nice to see everyone again, no one really changed. On Thanksgiving, family came to my house then we went to a friend of the family’s. I was somewhat surprised when the dads there suggested we all play beer pong against them. They won against their sons, which also somewhat surprised me. Then on Friday night I had people over. Katrina picked Jordan Norwood up at his relatives in Newark, so he came too.

Basketball Game vs. Long Island University

I had to come back up here Saturday morning to cheer for the Men’s Basketball game. They played a good game and beat the other team. I was surprised to see there were actually more people in the crowd compared to the other games. We also got paid to cheer for this game. It would have been nice to be at home an extra two days, but it wasn’t too bad.

Home Tomorrow!

I have to start packing and getting ready to head back to dirty jerz. We had the night off from practice and it felt great = ) I actually went downtown and had enough time to get a sweatshirt for my grandma and a few other things for people at home haha.

I haven't been able to blog because this weekend was crazy. From the previous blog you can tell our Thursday night was eventful, and Courtney had to leave the next day = ( I ended up not going to my first two classes because I didn't want her getting lost meeting me for lunch at West, so I just waited till our normal time of going to lunch and brought her with me, then went to my last class.

On Friday, after we worked on a Kinesiology Lab, my friend took me to Wal-Mart where we got fish haha. I still don't know what to name mine. Later on that night we stopped at TKE where that girl fell out of the window. Once we left there we went to ATO. It wasn't one of the funnest nights ever, so I went home somewhat early.

Saturday I had to be at the basketball game at 11:30. The men's team played an exciting game against Cornell. They came back in the second half and made a lot of three pointers. The games have been pretty boring so far (since there are barely any fans there to support them), but this one wasn't bad. After the game, me and the other small Co ed freshmen ate at Gdoba downtown. Then we went straight to the cheer house to watch the football game, which they won = ) Yayyyy... Big Ten Champs! Then I came back to my dorm, passed out for a little, a team mate called and woke me up thank god, I got showered and rushed over to Rec Hall. There we welcomed back the football team with a pep rally. It was so much fun, and we were so close to Joe Pa, my love haha, Paul Posluzny, Mike Robinson and all of them since they all came out on the end I ended up standing on. Then we got changed and left our uniforms and whatnot in our wrestling friends' dorm. Straight from there we went to one of our team mates apartments since they both turned 21 last week and then to a Pirate party at Phi Sig. We crowd surfed off a wooden balcony/stage type thing and it was really fun haha. We wouldn't have done it, but a ton of our guy team mates were right below us, catching us. Later on we made the usual stop at Canyon then walked my friend back to North where she picked up a mail package at like 3 in the morning. We never knew the mail place in the commons was open so late.

Yesterday I woke up and went straight to the wrestling match vs. Wisconsin. It's weird watching the guys we hang out with on the mat. They really should have won the match, but they ended up losing by four points. Oh well, I just felt bad for them because they had to practice today at 645am hardcore and then again at 3 since they lost. Then me, Brendan, Jordan Norwood, Katrina and Devon went to Baby's since all of the commons were closed. After that I worked on a Kines lab with friends in pollock, then straight to church with Brendan at 6. I got back, procrastinated until I watched Desperate Housewives at Katrina's, came back, procrastinated more then passed out.

So that was my whole weekend haha. This really feels like an online diary now. Tonight I just have to finish this proposal, pack, clean, and get a few things done before I leave tomorrow around 1:00 : ). I also got letters back from my "Penn Pal" class, and they are so cute. Penn Pal is a program where student athletes write to an elementary school class about our schedules, classes, goals, etc. They respond and give the cutest little letters haha.

From Courtney

I hung out with this kid tonight that has a crush on me. We danced for a long time which was fun because I really like to dance. But then suddenly I realized this guy was a big fag. He had on a shamrock necklace and a collared shirt that was striped. Then we called a cab when it was time to leave but fortunately the cab said the law only allowed four people in the cab which DID NOT INCLUDE HIM. This was because my fabulous and incredibly good looking best friend was in the car. Although she is Irish she DID NOT appreciate his shamrock necklace. I hope he had to walk 10 miles home because he needed to walk his gayness off. Once home, we ordered some Canyon pizza and they delivered it ASAP. It was delicious and then my roomate came home. She was very funny and showed my good looking friend her sweet ass bowl. It smelled like weed but she liked it cause she loves weed. The pizza was delicious and so was the beer that her roomate gave us as a present. It was awesome. I am awesome. Sam is awesome. Katrina is awesome. Jordan is awesome. And Courtney is the awesomest. Peace professor epochewiki, your awesome too. Peace love and chicken grease bitch. Love Courtney

Wow, well my best friend posted that lovely message quite late last night when Jordan Norwood was in our room haha. I guess she didn't approve of the guy I was with. I will feel really bad if he reads this, but I doubt he will. I don't feel as bad because I don't agree with all of the comments, it was her opinion, even though she pretended I said all of it. I don't knnow haha. Now I really can't wait to see all my friends from home, I miss them sooo much.

*November 17, 2005*

Courtney

I am so excited, my best friend may come up tonight instead of Saturday! I CAN'T WAIT to see her since the last time I saw her was August 15th. We figured out that since we met in preschool, we have never spent more than two weeks apart! I seriously consider her like a sister or cousin. We spent so many hours together going to gymnastics from kindergarten to 4th grade, dance 5th grade to 9th grade and cheerleading 5th grade till senior year. This doesn't include all of the classes we had over the years, as well as hanging out practically every weekend. She’s so crazy and I can’t wait till we hang out again!!!

Nittany Lion

I never knew the Lion had more than one custome! I went to his apartment last night and he helped me with my nutrition assignment, and in his closet were five other Lion suits! It was really weird to just see them hanging there. He said he wouldn't even wear two of them because they are old and ratty, but they are used when other people wear them for events. He is really smart and offered to help out with this assignment since we have the same major and remembered what a pain this assignment was.

Another website

Last night on IM, one of the football players told me I was on a site he checked often. http://mb8.scout.com/fpennstatefrm1.showMessage?topicID=26680.topic

One week till Break!

I can't wait till thanksgiving break = ) I haven't seen a lot of my closest friends since the end of August and I miss them soooo much. We hung out so much over the years and it has been weird not calling them up each day to see whats going on for the night or whatever. My best friend may come up and visit this weekend, I am so excited! I really can't wait till I'm just at home relaxing though. I found out today that I don't have practice next Tuesday, so I can go home with my guy friend either late Monday night after practice, or Tuesday during the day, yay! I didn't want to stick around here since I won't have classes Tuesday. I also didn't want to make my parents drive three and a half hours to get me.

Now I'm going to fix my proposal a little bit because I put barely any effort into it so far. I was going to switch my subject to vaccinations and how they can cause certain problems in young children, but when I looked up sites for information I realized there are so many different types and too many scientific terms. I feel I know a lot more about underage drinking and the information in my final will be less complicated. I'm still a little iffy on what exactly to argue though.

I finally commented on someone elses' proposal... LoveIt

*November 13,2005*

Procrastination at its' best

It's 11:30 and I have a lot of studying to do for my exam tomorrow. The campus was pretty empty this weekend since people were away canning or went to visit home. It was really fun once again though. We had a cheerleading formal Friday night and it was neat to see all my team mates dressed up, having a good time and whatnot. I have to make my lazy self work on the proposal, I'm still seriously considering switching subjects. I will worry about it tomorrow cause tonight I have to study and do other things due.

*November 9,2005*

Final Confusion

It's 11:30 and I'll procrastinate a little longer by blogging on here. I'm thinking about changing my final topic to vaccinations. Right now would be a good time since we haven't gotten far into the assignment. I became more interested in this topic because today my mom told me that my cousin's baby was diagnosed as autistic. Kyle was a "normal" baby until he became vaccinated. He is the second person that is close to me that this has happened to. Many people believe that children should not get vaccinated. I also want to change my topic because I am not sure what I would argue in the underage drinking paper. I was just going to write about it as a subject.

Picture Online

Today one of my old cheerleading camp counselors who I tried out for Penn State with texted me and said that my picture was on a website. I'm not sure if anyone has heard of athlon sports, but I was surprised to see it on there. http://www.athlonsports.com/inseason/index.php?wantgame=27 (It's the 19th one.)

Tiredness

It's 6:45pm and I just got back to my dorm after a long day. I'm going to work on my proposal in this little amount of time before the pep rally tonight and more after. All I want to do is take a nap, I'm having a lot of trouble starting this and deciding which topic to chose. In the back of my head I know it has to be something I can write a lot of pages on. I am rediculously tired considering I slept three hours Wednesday night(stayed up till 4 studying for an 8am) and then five hours last night. I was planning on getting to bed earlier last night, but we went over to West to wish one of our friends, Brad, Happy Birthday at midnight. We ended up watching the new Family Guy DVD which was so funny and our guy friends were nice enough to walk us back to our dorms after. I can't wait to see them in the wrestle offs this Sunday! I also really hope the football team wins tomorrow!

Happy Halloween = )

It's Halloween today, yet I felt like Saturday was more like the real holiday. So many people downtown were dressed up. Tonight should be fun too. After we get out of practice at 9, the girls from the cheerleading team are meeting and going to PIKA for a costume party/social. I'm glad we set it up with this frat because four of the guys in it and three of them pledging are friends from my highschool. Right now I'm in West editing my evaluative argument a little bit before my next class.

Purdue Game 33-15

Great game once again = ) I am so proud our football team is 8 and 1! This weekend was crazy with cheerleading events and whatnot though. On Friday, I had to do an appearance at an Ice cream social thing from 3 to 4 which was pretty fun. Then we all had to meet to be in the parade at 5:30. The parade was awesome, I've never seen so many cool floats. There also were so many people watching it! I really had a great time. After that we went straight to Old Main for a pep rally. I couldn't even tell how many people were watching because the lights were so bright I could only see the first two rows of people. While we were waiting, we stood next to the guys in the Glee Club (Singers.) They were really funny and one of them would not stop dancing to the band songs. So by the time we were finished with all of this it was 9:30 and we went back to our dorms quick to get ready to go out. Saturday morning I had to pass out posters at the Visitors Center from 11 to 12. I have never seen it so crowded in there, talk about crazy Penn State fans, they all were so excited for the game. Then I ate lunch with my parents, went to the cheerleading alumni tailgate then to the Bryce Jordan Center at 2:15. The game was pretty cold, especially since we had to change into our skirts. Some of my team mates dressed up, but since my partner didn't bring his costume, I didn't feel like dressing up by myself. I also thought the Lion did Thriller really well! We saw him practice it almost everyday this week. I am so glad they won! They better beat Wisconsin, it's going to be tough but I think they can do it. Me and my room mate were just talking about how we feel bad for Derrick Williams. He went from all of this play time and publicity to almost nothing anymore, it must feel weird for him. When I introduced my mom to him after the game he said he'll hopefully be back in for the bowl game.

Craziness at PSU

Wow, I never realized Halloween was a weekend-long celebration some places. When three team mates and I went out Friday night, we were suprised to see a lot of people dressed up. I have to admit, I have never seen so many funny costumes. We managed to get pictures of some of our favorites. Saturday night we figured we might as well dress up, which was a good thing because a lot of the places we ended up were costume parties. Definitely one of the best weekends.

*October 27, 2005*

I finally decided to write my evaluative argument on Desperate Housewives.

Plagiarism

Plagiarism is when a person uses information from another source without giving the correct credit or any credit to that source. When someone plagiarizes, they are being somewhat dishonest in that the work has been used as if it were original when it is not.

Stoned ass Sam

It's one in the morning so I guess I'll consider today as Thursday even though I haven't gone to sleep yet. I just finished an assignment and am too hyper to go to bed right now. Plus my room mate is really stoned and it's quite amusing. Watching her eat cookie dough and saying random comments is making me miss my friends from home a lot haha. I'm still debating whether I should wear my cop Halloween costume to Psychology class tomorrow for extra credit or not. I CAN'T wait for this weekend = ) Homecoming and Halloween=Too much fun. I better set some time aside for studying and homework though. I'm thinking about writing my evaluative argument on Friday Night Lights, Varsity Blues or the Sandlot. I'm going to do some sort of sports-related movie so I can also use this assignment for my kinesiology assignment.

*October 25, 2005*

It's Snowing already !?!

What is going on? I thought it was only October. This weather is going to take some getting used to. Walking around in this everyday is not going to be too much fun. Hopefully this is a freak thing and things will clear up again for a little while. So weird, I can't remember the last time I saw snow in October, or if I ever have.

HoMeCoMiNg

Our team had a social with Acacia last night because they are our partners for homecoming. After practice till 9, we went over there around 10 and helped them with our float. I've never made a float, it was pretty neat to see how it was done. Then we went upstairs where the walls were all black paper "decorated" with neon spray paint. We all wore white shirts which looked cool under the black lights. People had highlighters and we all wrote on each other. It was pretty funny what some of them came up with. Let's just say I left there with quite an interesting shirt. When we got out of the frat, the buses weren't running anymore and we saw a cab in the parking lot. One of my friends asked if we could get in and he said sure. I felt bad because the driver said someone called to get picked up there and my friends pretended like it was us. Oh well, hopefully the people that actually called it didn't get too pissed. Waking for my 8am was interesting, as well as being somewhat productive today.

BBH Presentation

Today in my BBH class we had a presentation from the LGBTA. I think it stands for Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transexual something I can't remember. I was in the girls bathroom before and I saw someone come in who I seriously thought was a boy in about 7th grade. I almost asked if I was in the wrong bathroom. Then once we got in the room I realized she was one of the speakers talking about their personal sexual orientation. We watched a boring movie about having team mates that are gay, difficulties with coming out, you name it (since it is a class of freshmen student athletes.) It was interesting to hear the speakers stories afterwards though.

*October 24, 2005*

Evaluative Argument 2

I just realized that i only did one so far... oops. A bomb threat was made Friday at old main. The claim was that someone threatened to bomb the building. The police believed this because they recieved a call from a staff memeber around 10am. Due to this, they evacuated the building. A bomb was not located, so the people in the building proceeded with their work. I found it intersting that Kendig said "the bomb threat is not unusual, and that the university tends to receive threats around exam times."

Back in Happy Valley

This weekend went so fast, it was great though. I got to crown one of my good friends and old team mates = ) She goes out with one of my best guy friends and over the past three years we have become really close since we hung out almost every weekend. I miss her a lot, so it was fun hanging out with her. Being home was weird without all of my close friends home. A lot of the guys in the grade above me were home though, so I mostly hung out with them. It's great to be back here!

Home

This is my first time home since I came out to school August 23rd. It seems so weird and since I can't fall asleep I'm just gonna write a little on here. I missed practice tonight to go to a "cheerleading exhibition" my high school team held. Four younger cheerleading programs that lead into our high school, as well as the high school Freshmen, JV, and Varsity sqauads showed their competition routines. My old coach then had me teach all of the girls two chants. I was really suprised as to how good the younger squads were. This makes me so excited because the high school team will eventually improve. Our team was sooo bad my freshmen year in high school, but due to our new coach and the girls in my grade, it was turned around. Tonight was so great to see all of the younger girls I have coached at practices/stunt clinics/summer camps over the past five years! It's strange to see that a lot of them are taller than me now. I better get to sleep, tomorrow will be a long day of errands. Also, tomorrow night I have to crown the next queen at the Homecoming Football game.

Stigmergy

Introduced in 1959 by Pierre-Paul Grasse, stigmergy describes the indirect communication taking place among individuals in social insect societies. Stigmergy is a very powerful means to coordinate activity over great spans of time and space in a wide variety of systems. It may turn out to be a crucial concept in fields such as artificial intelligence, robotics, or the social, political and economic sciences.

Evaluative Argument 1

This article aboutPenn State Rumors clears up myths that have circulated around campus. One of the claims is that the creamery ice cream is not allowed to be sold anywhere off campus because it is not FDA approved. This reason this statement is untrue according to Tom Palchak, Creamery manager, "The creamery is known as a captive dairy, which means we don't take trucks off campus to compete with Centre County and other Pennsylvania dairies," Palchak said. "We don't sell our milk to schools or grocery stores. We don't go out and seek business. This allows dairies in Pennsylvania to flourish." Counter arguments people may have against this reasoning is why can’t they prove that it IS FDA approved? If it really is approved, you would figure they could include this in the article.

*October 17, 2005*

Manic Monday

Remember the 80's song with that title? One of the older gynasts at the gymnastics place I went to when I was little did a routine to it. Mondays aren't necessarily my favorite. Especially when I have two exams this week that I have been procrastinating studying for. But anyways, this weekend went really fast. I still can not believe that game Saturday! Argh! It frustrated me so much, especially now that Derrick Williams is out for the season. Michigan's coach must be sooo glad he argued for those last two seconds to be added back onto the clock. That one second determined whether Penn State would remain undefeated so far this season. I will write more after practice, maybe even attempt the stigmergy thing.

Peer Causal Argument 2

Here is a causal argument from TheGoodfella:

CASUAL ARGUMENT. Are Nick and Jessica really splitsville? HaHa this was the first one I saw, and I just picked it, seriously. But anyway, the article is about the rumors of married hollywood couple Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson supposedly divorcing. The casual argument is that the rumors are just rumors and none of it is true. So the target audience of this argument is the people who think that they are going to split, and the author is arguing that it is just gossip and nothing is going to happen. Representatives for the couple have told the press numerous times that nothing of this sort is true. So, we'll just have to wait and see what the real truth is...

claim: Nick and Jessica are not divorced.

reason: The couple and their publicists state that they aren't.

Counter arguments: The married couple is actually divorced and these rumors are actually true. Some people believe they are divorced because of seperate pictures of them, pictures without their wedding rings on, rumors in the media.

*October 14, 2005*

Peer Causal Argument 1

Today is our "Study Day" and a lot of people went home, to Michigan, or other campuses. Since I'll be going home this Thursday and a lot of my friends had their break last weekend, I decided to just stay around here. It feels so weird not seeing a lot of people around campus, almost an erie and empty feeling.

Here is a causal argument from RedLionBlog:

For the causal argument, I chose an article from espn.com on Penn State’s football team and the impact of the freshmen, mainly Derrick Williams and Justin King. The article states that these two players deserve a majority of the credit for the resurgence of the football program at Penn State. The reasons that the author gives are that these two have come in as true freshmen and are already making a big impact as playmakers on both sides of the ball. This is true, and the main reason the argument is even being made is because at the time the article was written Penn State had just knocked off Minnesota by thirty points. I have some disagreement with the article, because I feel there are many other causes for Penn State’s great start. First and foremost is Joe Paterno, who has completely changed his philosophy regarding playing freshmen, and who has also opened up the offense in order to get those freshmen the ball. Also, Michael Robinson is the leader of the team, and he is the one who is in the driver’s seat as quarterback and captain of the team. Lastly, the defense has been strong and played an integral part of the winning formula. So while I concede that the freshmen have been great and have contributed to Penn State’s success, it’s also true that there are many other factors to the great season so far other than thenew look, new attitude freshmen.

claim: Derrick Williams and Justin King deserve a majority of the credit for the new look and new attitude of Penn State Football.

reason: Because of Derrick Williams and Justin King, the football program is going to be more successful.

Counter arguments: Many other factors contribute to the success of the Penn State football team. Their other team mates are just as important when it comes to winning. Mike Robinson, the quarterback, plays a major role in the ability of our football team. The rest of the offensive players and all of the defense players contribute to the outcome of the games as well.

107-year-old Lady!

Last night seven other team mates and I had to do a little pep rally with the lion at the Brookline nursing home. After we did our little "show" in the main room, we went and visited some of the patients that couldn't leave their rooms. I was AMAZED to meet this one woman, who asked us how old we thought she was. She told us she was 107 punched her arms around in some sort of a dance move. I couldn't believe how much energy she still had! Then she's like "I have lived through three centuries, I was born in 1898!" I really felt honored to meet someone born in the 1800s!

Causal Argument 2

In the article New Orleans Beating Victim: I Was Sober, a 64-year-old retired elementary schoolteacher was arrested and repeatedly punched by police over the weekend. Davis said the confrontation began after he had approached a mounted police officer Saturday to ask about curfews in the city when another officer interrupted. The causal argument is that Davis got in this fight because he was drunk. A possible alternative cause that makes the argument questionable is that he claims he was sober that night and has been sober for a while. Three officers pleaded not guilty to charges stemming from the incident. Davis disputed contentions by police that he had been drinking.

Nothing new going on tonight, procrastinating and staying up late as usual. Cheerleading practice went really well though. My stunt partner and I did a cupie tonight. This is when I stand ontop of just one of his hands with my feet together. It was sort of scary to try the first few times, but by the end of practice I thought it was fun.

Causal Argument 1

According to an article at CNN.com, flooding in eastern states leaves 7 dead. The claim is that this particular flood caused the deaths of seven people. Reasons supporting the claim are the stories of those who lost their lives due to this natural disaster. The audience is anyone interested in the news, particularly Americans who live near the areas affected. There are no other causes besides the flood. Wow, about to finish editing my analogy paper, but dwill just IMed me!

OHIO STATE GAME 17-10

WHAT A WEEKEND!!! I AM SO PROUD OF OUR FOOTBALL TEAM, SO EXCITED FOR THE REST OF THE GAMES THIS SEASON AND REALLY BELIEVE WE ARE BACK!!! I have been so busy this weekend, but I will start off by explaining what I had to do involving cheerleading beginning Thursday night. After we got out of practice early, yay, some of us walked up to Paternoville for a mini pep rally type thing. The nittany lion came with us, and they were even able to have him crowd surf through the dedicated fans. We looked around at the tent set ups and some of these people were really hard core. I heard they all plugged electronic appliances into the same surge protector which was feeding from one of the bathrooms. I didn't see it, but some of them even had TVs. Friends from my high school were in one of the first tents there (Kelly and Kapinos Kicking Krew.) It was crazy to see how many people were waiting out there on Thursday night! Seemed like a lot of fun. Then someone had a cowbell so everyone did the ...P!...S!...U! Thing. Once we gave out waters and Gatorades, I finally went back to my dorm.

After starting a little homework, my room mate came home from partying and was like Derrick Williams is coming over tonight! (She facebooked him the day before because he was one of my facebook friends... He liked her myspace picture, IMed her about it, then one thing led to another.) I had to help her get ready once she got out of the shower. She then let him into our dorm building once he called and said he was outside. He didn't know we were room mates, so he was surprised when he went to shake my hand because we met over the summer on one of our stunt clinic weekends. Then my room mate went to the bathroom, so we talked about the Mike Green presentation and other random things. I also apologized for the phone calls I made to him when I was around hardcore PSU football fans that had been drinking and made me call him. Let's just say getting to bed by 3:00am was not so fun considering I had to wake up so early the next morning.

Friday at 7:00am I woke up to get ready for the ESPN Cold Pizza Show. We had to be there at 7:45 and they began filming at 8:00am. I almost wimped out and didn't go because it was pouring rain. But then I thought to myself, how often is college game day going to be at our school? Woody Paige was really funny and everyone chanted for him. Behind the scenes (but the whole audience could see him) he opened up a beer, and everyone chanted for him to chug it. He eventually drank it, which I thought was funny. It was a really fun show and we basically stood in the front and danced around to the songs the band was playing. We also got jungle juice/mysterious drink spilled on us by one of the drunk fans in the front row. This got old after about an hour and a half, and I decided to go back to my dorm to shower and clean my drenched warm ups. I had to skip a class for the first time, because the laundry machines were full and it was my only chance during the day that I could wash and dry my uniform and warm ups. I then ran to the bus stop, got to English then proceeded on with the rest of my day.

Friday night, we had to be at Rec Hall at 7:45 for Rally in the Valley which started around 8:30. This was so much fun and got me soooo pumped for the game. Joe Paterno imitated an Ohio State player about to hike the ball to the quarterback. He got everyone so excited. Joe Pa jumped around and was the most energetic I have ever seen him, or any other 78 year old man for that matter. They also showed the new football video which seriously almost made me cry.

Saturday morning, I got to ESPN gameday around 10:30am. I wasn't going to go since I was so exhausted and it was raining once again. Then while trying to fall back asleep, I heard everyone shouting, jumped out of bed, got ready and ran over there. Since I was a little late, my team mates already looked like "drowned rats" as we all were saying. The guys let us stand on their shoulders and get a little TV time while the ESPN guys were talking. We asked the guys in the front row what time they got there in order to get such good spots, and they said 3:00 in the morning!!! I really thought I was going to be sick after standing out there for two hours soaking wet, but it was definitely worth it. They then brought out the Crystal football trophy they will be awarding at the National College football championship this year. We had to stand around it for about ten minutes before they actually filmed us with the trophy in front. After the show was over, we then went on stage and met the ESPN guys. I'm not a huge fan of gameday, but I met Kirk the young blonde one. We then took a picture with them, and I can't wait until they email it to us.

At 3:00, I had to meet up with eleven other team mates and the Lion to go to the President's Tailgate. Once the Lion got done with his appearance (He had such a long day starting at 8:00am and ending at 12:00am) and got over to the cheer house, we took off for the Penn Stater. There, we ate the best food I have had in months. This was definitely not the typical tailgate. Everyone attending it donated millions of dollars to Penn State or has greatly contributed to the University. Then the Blue Band, P.J. (The blue sapphire), us and the lion went on stage to pump up all of the people attending this banquet. Then the Lion drove us straight to the BJC where the Lion and other cheerleaders had to be in "Tailgreat," which we all stayed at until we walked up to the stadium for the game.

THE GAME VERSE OHIO STATE WAS THE BEST FOOTBALL GAME I HAVE EVER BEEN TO. Considering their team was ranked higher, a lot of people doubted we could beat them. I AM SO GLAD THAT THEY DID!!! It was the second largest attendance for a Penn State football game, 109,895 people I think was the number. By the end of the fourth quarter, there were so many cops/riot officers in front of us. Once they won the game and people tried rushing the field, we saw people get arrested and mased. I didn't get to go downtown right after the game, but my friend visiting from West Virginia said there were riots. By the time me and my team mate Devon got downtown, there were soooo many officers on Beaver Avenue. It was almost weird. But it was so great to see that our football team is back and everyone is pumped for this awesome football season = )

enthymeme

Just got finished starting other homework and responding to emails after a study session, practice then dinner. I realized what I earlier defined as an enthymeme was actually an analogy. The new enthymeme I came up with is "Someone who listens to Bob Marley smokes pot." This implies that all people who enjoy listening to Bob Marley also enjoy smoking pot. Yes, this may be true in some or most cases, but there are plenty of people who enjoy his music and don't do illegal drugs.

analogy

The statement "It’s like stealing candy from a baby.” This somewhat common saying can compare any action to be so easy that it is equal to stealing from a young child. Pretty cruel if you think about it, but the statement can be true depending on what people are discussing.

Also in my entry on Friday I started to talk about the play I saw for my theatre class. My team mate and I had to go on a Friday night since we don't get out until 9:00 every other weeknight. Batboy was a twisted play which I really didn't think was that bad. I was expecting it to be boring because it was for class, but it ended up being really funny and interesting. This play seemed really different because there was cursing, violence, partial nudity and other things I never would have seen in high school plays.

Minnesota Game 44-14

What a weekend!!!!!!! So happy about the game yesterday = ) It was seriously the best football game I have EVER experienced. I really hope the team keeps playing like they did on Saturday... they were expected to lose to Minnesota and we ended up beating them by thirty points!!! The game was even more fun because the crowd was soooooo loud and so many people stayed until the end of the game. I also heard we were on TV for a little. It was awesome, my guy cheerleading friend who goes to Arizona State texted and said he saw us on Sports Center. I don't know if anyone saw, but the second touchdown when Justin King ran in to us, I was the second one to give him a good job tap haha, it was great. After the game was really fun too, I went to my first women’s volleyball game, and they kicked ***, good job ladies = ) Then after a few stops we ended up at the cheer house with the Nittany Lion, Minnesota cheerleaders and their Gopher. It was interesting seeing the mascots out of their uniform talking about how hot it gets during the games as well as exchanging crazy fan stories. Then the lion (I won’t say his name on here, but it’s easy to find out who he is) led us to our friend’s apartment who was having a party for his girlfriend's birthday, one of our team mates. Now that PSU is 5 an 0 and ranked number one in the big ten, I CAN'T WAIT for the Ohio State game this Saturday! Friday night if anyone isn't going to see O.A.R. (I wish I could) I suggest going to the pep rally in Rec Hall if you are into that sort of thing = )

When I was at a loss of what to say on here my room mates and girls from the floor suggested... "Angela is a train wreck and I'm scared she is going to die..... Angela is a tin man she is so sexy... Sam wanted Chinese food so Alice came over." Haha, Angela who we are worried about seriously had to go to the hospital for the second time last night : \

Here’s the away message my room mate just made:

it is 11pm on Sunday night here in Hastings Hall..

anupa: do you have any gum? i just took a shot.

me: you just took a shot?!

anupa: i have soo much work to do!! waaaa :-(

me: so you took a shot?

anupa: yeah how else do you do work???

kelly: umm meditate?!

take deep breaths, not shots.

i loveeee penn state <33

Just looking through the blogs and syllabus for tomorrow and I clicked on yours for the first time. Sounds like you've put a lot into cheerleading and it might so happen to show. I think I saw you at the game yesterday cheering along, but I'm not quite sure. Me and my buddies were in the 11th row on the corner of the student section. Two of the kids I stood next to painted and one had an all blue wig on, but more importantly, that dumb Minnesota fan was in our row. We booed her until she left. So as I'm not sure that I saw you, it'd be cool to find out so I can cheer along even harder next game. You can reach me pretty much any time on AIM at abroudy1, or I'll just see you around. Either way, crazy crazy game and get hype for Ohio State. Let's go state! TheyCallMeBroudy

Oh yeah, sorry for the blog posting, probably might want to delete it after you see this, but just wanted to mention something before I forgot. Take care.

First time blogging for a little while. Once again it is 2:20am and I just finished studying for my third and final exam = ) I had two today so I was up until 3:00am studying for them. I swear I'm not some freak that stays up all night, I just seriously haven't found enough time during the day to study. I barely have enough to finish required assignments. But oh well, cheerleading has been exciting lately. They now put my up in the basket toss where we do a back flip. Considering I never was a flyer (girl that goes up) before, it was pretty scary the first few times but now I love it. I better get some rest before my exam at 8:00am tomorrow = 0

The weekends have really been going by too fast. I had a great time visiting my friends down at West Virginia. Here at Penn State we are lucky enough to have a somewhat flat campus. Their campus has so many hills, I really don't know how they can walk around them daily, I don't think I would be able to. They also don't have cool loops/links like we do (Along with the funny chants started on them.) They have a regular school bus (yellow and everything) which stops running at 2:00am and a PRT/tram type thing which stops running at 10:00pm. Also in my opinion, Penn State's football games are more exciting. We have many more enthusiastic fans, I only noticed a few dedicated ones who painted themselves in order to root on their team. Speaking of Penn State football, they had a close game Saturday. A great first touchdown catch by Derrick Williams helped the nittanny lions beat Northwestern in the last minutes of the game. If only that was a home game, I wish I could have seen that play in person. Yeah State 4 and 0! I hope they keep up the winning streak!

*September 23, 2005*

Wow I keep writing on here later and later each night. It's now 2:13am and I'm trying to figure out how I spent all of my time tonight. I came straight to my dorm after practice (Which we got out of early- 8:20!! = )),,, showered, ate, a friend came over, I did my other homework and bam its 2 in the morning. I don't really mind because my first class is at 10:10, but this can't be an every night thing. I sometimes wish I could enjoy thirsty Thursday, but it's not a big deal,,, I have the whole weekend to have a good time and go out with friends. Speaking of friends, I can't wait to go down to WVU later on tomorrow/today and see two of my best girlfriends and my best guy friend = ) I really hope they are surviving down there, like going to classes at all. But we'll see, it should be a fun game and a fun time.

*September 21,2005*

It's 1:00am, I just finished cramming in a lot of homework after eating dinner after practice got out at 9:00. I wonder if I read the definitional arguments and commented on someone's too late that it won't matter for tomorrow (well, today)'s class. What's helping me stay awake is talking to one of my guy friends from home who now plays hockey in Oswego, New York. I miss him along with a lot of my other friends. This particular kid had a crazy family, I honestly felt bad for their parents. They have four of the wildest boys I have ever met who are now ages 16, 18, 19 and 22. They also five have older kids. Everytime I have gone over to their house to either hang out or drop off my little brother (who hangs out with his little brother) there are ALWAYS people over. Oh well, their parents are really nice I just don't understand how they don't get annoyed with like ten guys there constantly. Well I better get some sleep.

*September 19, 2005*

Just finished eating lunch in West with Roxy, Meghan, team mates Miguel and Julio, and wrestlers Brad, Brendan and Dewitt. I really think the food is better here, especially the fresh cookies we get everyday haha. Also there is a nice computer lab downstairs which I'm at now, trying to finish some work before my next class at 2:30. I still have to get started with the definitional argument since I finally came up with something I may be able to blab on about for three pages. I really don't want to sound like an annoying cheerleader who is convinced that it is a sport, and try and force everyone else to think so, but I want people to at least listen to what I believe defines a sport.

Yeah State! 3 and 0! I hope they keep up the winning streak once they start playing harder teams. I'm really excited for the football games the next few years because a lot of the freshmen have been playing really well. Derrick Williams, Justin King, and Kevin Kelly are some of the few I remember doing well yesterday. What a weekend. It is too much fun out here. Now I have to buckle down and start some homework though. At brunch today me and kids from other areas talked about how we never studied in high school. This is making college work a rude awakening. I don't know about anyone else, but whenever I do homework (which usually involves a computer out here) I always manage to get dristracted by IM or facebook. I check on them to talk to my friends from home (who I miss so much) or people I met the night before. Speaking of missing friends from home, I can't wait for next weekend because I'm going down to West Virginia University to visit some of my closest friends. My friend from here didn't want to drive down alone and since Penn State's game is away next weekend I couldn't pass up the opportunity. The friends I'm visiting are absolutely crazy, I really wonder how they are doing school work instead of partying every night. My best guy friend goes there too and I'm so excited to see him. He also just told me his family is going down to tailgate, so I'm looking forward to seeing them. We have spent a lot of holidays with his family and a few others because all of our relatives live far away in other states. My mom's entire side of the family lives out in Iowa still, where she is from. I haven't seen them since my Junior year in high school which makes me sad. Well I got a lot of work to start.

*September 16, 2005*

Wow, It's 12:04am, and I am so tired. I'm still procrastinating about doing a Kines Lab and the reading due tomorrow (well today), so I log on and blog instead. Oh man I really need to spend my time more efficiently. Practice is really wearing me out and it only leaves me left with time for resting and homework. I look forward to weekends so much because of this. I was looking forward to tonight but by the time I got ready after practice till 9, then tried finishing up homework due tomorrow, I realized it wasn't even worth the effort. I might as well study during the week and go out on weekends. There are just so many distractions here, but I still love it. Well I better get working, more blogging later. TGIF!!!!!

*September 13, 2005*

No practice tonight! I feel like I can actually get things done today... but debate vs. dialogue... I feel that they are different. Debate in my opinion is when there are two separate or opposing points. To debate is to consider something, to deliberate, and engage in an argument by discussing opposing points. A debate is a formal discussion or argument. Dialogue is more like conversation, not necessarily a discussion about which view point is correct. Dialogue is when people engage in an informal exchange of views, not an argument involving opposing points.

It's 11:30pm now and I'm about to start a project for my BBH class tomorrow. haha oh dear, I really can't procrastinate as bad here in college as I did in high school. Oh well, I really like this quote my crazy room mate sent me on IM the other day..."You have four years to be irresponsible here. Relax. Work is for people with jobs. You'll never remember class time, but you'll remember time you wasted hanging out with your friends. So, stay out late. Go out on a Tuesday with your friends when you have a paper due Wednesday. Spend money you don't have. Drink 'til sunrise. The work never ends, but college does."-Tom Petty... I won't live by this quote or anything haha, but I thought it was cute, also this one was in one of my team mates' infos...It's something unPredictable, but in the end itS right. I hope you had the time of yoUr life...Just random little things. Today wasn't too bad of a Monday though, I was able to get a nap in at least since practice didn't start till 7. I should get started on this project and get some sleep.

*September 11, 2005*

Wow I didn't even like writing the date today. Still can't believe it has been four years. I wonder if there is some sort of memorial service of some sort at Penn State today. This is the first year I haven't really heard people talking about the tragic event. This could be since I never find time to watch TV or read the newspaper. This weekend was so fun though, went by too fast once again. Sitting down and trying to make myself do homework is like torture right now, so I figured I might as well spend my time on the computer doing something somewhat productive. The game yesterday was awesome = ) Those last two touchdowns were a big disappointment though. I asked one of the football players last night what happened and he explained that they put a lot of the new players in during them. Either way that was rediculous, they can't be making mistakes like that against the more difficult teams. I love walking back from the game though cause everyone tailgating hands us brownies/rice krispy treats/cupcakes/hamburgers/hot dogs and everything, that is once we take pictures with their little kids or once again drunk old men. It's all in good fun though, game weekends are crazy, I will definitely miss them once the fall is over.

*September 9, 2005*

Finally Friday!!! Even though we haven't even been through a whole academic week here at Penn State, I already look forward to the weekends. It's nice when teachers let you out early on Fridays, makes the day even better. It was funny running into Brandon from our class last night on the loop, we discussed our blogs and whatnot. I can't believe this Sunday will be four years since the attacks that occurred on September 11, 2001. It doesn't seem that long ago and I will never forget where I was and who I was with when I found out. I don't think a lot of Americans could ever forget either. Such a tragic event, it still makes me sick to my stomach when I think about it. We could see the huge clouds of smoke coming from the buildings from parts of my town. But on a more upbeat note, tomorrow's game should be fun. I'm not sure how good Cincinnati's football team is, but I hope Penn State will beat them. Everyone is saying how good Penn State football is this year and how with all of the incoming freshmen they could be undefeated. Then I wonder to myself if they say that every year. Well we will see. Go State!

*September 8, 2005*

I love the way college classes are set up opposed to high school classes. Not only can you pick what classes you want, but when. I've found that I feel much more awake in classes because of this so far, since instead of sitting through boring ones for six hours each day, you're only at them for a shorter period of time, (atleast in the case of my schedule.) I really look forward to the weekends here though, talk about fun. The quote "drinking town, football problem" accurately describes happy valley during football season in my opinion. Something that boggles my mind is how much Penn State paraphernalia is out there! I swear they make Penn State everything from lamps, doormats, saltshakers, underwear to mugs from sheetz! wow, great to be a part of this huge school! I'm going to start remixing my narrative now, see what I can come up with. Almost the weekend = ) yyaaayyyy

*September 7, 2005*

Found a little bit of time to do some blogging. It has already been hard managing time with four hours of each night spent going to, having, and coming back from practice. I sometimes feel like I'm in a bubble here because I never hear about the news, and even though teachers stress to pick up a paper each day, I don't spend my free time reading it. I am really glad that community members of Penn State are trying to help the people affected by hurricane Katrina though. Incase anyone hasn't heard, there will be a blood drive next week. For each person that gives blood, one dollar will be given to the red cross relief fund for victims of natural disasters. I would write more but I'm so tired I'm about to pass out.

*September 6, 2005*

Just got back from classes and trying to get as many things done as possible before practice from 6:00 to 9:00 tonight. So far I keep getting writer's block when attempting to blog. (School work has been a rude awakening considering my senior year of high school was a joke). The weather has been so nice though, I love it. When I read through the other narratives I thought they were really interesting. TheWarmth 's was really well written, it seemed like I was reading a magazine article at some points. I also realized I need to improve my writing skills a lot. Hopefully this class will help out. I don't know about anyone else, but now I really know what people meant when they said "sleep is a privelage" out here. I thought to myself no way, I'll find time to sleep... But with so much to do and so little time, sleep is one of my last priorities and it's starting to get to me. Well that's all I have time for right now.

*September 5, 2005*

Hey I'm Kelly = ) Finally got this blog thing figured out, once I got my lazy, procrastinating self onto the website long enough to do it. My blog name doesn't have that much significance, I just use Victoria Secret's Vanilla Lace scented lotion/spray/everything all the time, always have and always will. I also thought it sounded kind of cool. Making these blog entries shouldn't be too bad, once I get the hang of using the site... I'm somewhat computer handicapped, it takes me a while to figure things out. But this is all for now I'll write more interesting stuff later. I really agree with ViciousMarshmallow 's view on facebook, I was actually about to write about how it can get creepy when random people say "Oh you're Kelly, I saw you on facebook..." etc.
