Caricatures Saturday, September 18, 2005

So last night, me and my friends walked through the hub and we saw Chip Mock drawing caricatures. We watched him draw for a couple minutes and it reminded me of what that comic book was saying. The more simplified the drawing, the more people it can relate to. I agreed with it when I read it, but then Chip made me believe it more. One time he finished drawing, he stated "It's amazing what just a few lines can do, huh?" And I saw someone with two different caricatures of himself and they looked completely different, but still resembled him. Simplicity in drawings of faces really do make it easier to relate to.

News Tuesday, September 13, 2005

I decided to catch up on some news today. After I did, I thought that it would be a good thing to do more often. There's a lot of stuff happening in our little world outsite of Penn State.

George Bush: "Katrina exposed serious problems in our response capability at all levels of government and to the extent the federal government didn't fully do its job right, I take responsibility." -> Source: (CNN.com)

I dont really know much about what the U.S. failures were in responding to Katrina. But for Bush to take responsibility for all that? Wow. I'm not so sure this was a good move. How could all that really be his fault. I mean unless he told people not to help, I thought that whoever else does that stuff would be responsilbe. I'll read more about this then post a sane response. (Maybe I'm just missing something. If you know more please comment.) I also read that Bush's job approval rating is at it's all time low.

Something I just thought was funny: Cosby wins Web rights to Fat Albert - CNN.com

I don't think newspapers need to be so big and awkward. I think they should make them half as tall and twice as thick.

There is a blog about this in TheKemBlog. I think it is entirely admirable for our president to take responsibilty for this, but of course, I don't condone our government's failure. - FreeSpeech

Dialogue vs. Debate Monday, September 12, 2005

Debate and dialogue are nearly the same in my mind except that a debate must involve opposing points of view. Dialogue a conversation no matter the tone. A debate however, includes some form of disagreement. A debate would then be considered a type of dialogue that involves an arguement.
