Dear Sir or Madam,
I have recently watched a movie by the name “Supersize Me.” This movie made me aware of the risk of childhood obesity and how it has turned into an epidemic spreading across the United States. It revealed that many children today are not getting their daily recommended amount of nutritional foods and exercise. This movie also showed that schools can sometimes be contributing to the causes of childhood obesity. I feel that school systems are the best place to instill health conscious values in children since many children spend much of their time in school.
I am writing this in order to inform you about the growing rate of childhood obesity and what to can do to reduce it. Included is a paper that describes how to identify childhood obesity and what other health risks it can cause. It also identifies the main causes of childhood obesity and their relevance to schools. I have also evaluated many programs that are already being used in elementary schools that help combat childhood obesity and I have even come up with my own solution. I feel that schools must stress the importance of healthy eating habits to their students in order to make them realize that their health is a significant part of their lives. I hope that this paper can show you many things that you can do in order to keep your children healthy and happy.
I hope that you consider the programs that are discussed in this paper. I feel that by using any of the programs mentioned, you can drastically reduce the prevalence of childhood obesity in your district. By implementing them in your school, you can start the fight against childhood obesity, making for a healthier nation.
